I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Nope. They are auctioning all those names as we speak. 19 hrs to go.

haha Sibername did the same thing on the fury switchover. they were trying to auction off every domain, even though they clearly didn't get it. apparently their scripts have no fault checking - it would be simple to ensure they actually successfully registered the domains before they put them into auction. I would have thought they would have fixed that after the last fiasco. Maybe this time they'll not be so lazy and fix it since it seems CIRA is making a habit out of cancelling TBR sessions now.

Word is that TBR has been officially cancelled. And get this, CIRA didn't really screw up, MyID and Sibername did!! And they're cancelling it for them. Un.Effing.Believable.

I know, and it's pretty obvious what's going on here, and had anyone by MyID and Sibername screwed up (like during the first 2-3 weeks of Fury changes) there was not, and would never have been, an entire TBR reversal and cancellation. What a monumental waste of time for everyone involved, while the screw-ups, MyID and Siber, get a pass for their inability to have their systems setup correctly.

And it's truly insane that the CIRA thinks this is a professional way to act.

I'm on strike next week - I don't support systems so clearly fixed as this one.

it seems CIRA is making a habit out of cancelling TBR sessions now.

The difference is that the first Fury week nothing worked and no one got any names, while this time it was MyID and Siber not having their systems configured correctly (as per CIRA requirements) but somehow the CIRA felt the need to cancel the entire run and redo it... because 2 companies cannot configure their systems correctly?

What about the first 3 CIRA runs, whereby companies like Pool, NamesPro, FastWebServer, Webnames, Baremetal, and others, experienced significant difficulties getting their TBR servers configured for the Fury update, and ended up getting few selections, or none at all, in those weeks.

Ironically, it was during this time that MyID and Sibername ran roughshod over the TBR run, getting 90%+ of the top names, seemingly with no competition.

Where was the CIRA those weeks, cancelling the TBR runs and redoing them?

Probably by bots that updated the bids at one second before it closed...

Is that allowed? And how are they doing it? And who's doing it?

Didn't see anything you needed to delete or apologize for.

I just wanted to do it via PM.

Plus, today's CIRA decision just proved this system is so freaking rigged that I'm getting depressed.

There are no rules for the auctions. Each registrar has it's own setup. That was definitely a bot. It does that every week on the top one or two names. Its a good strategy because sooner or later they will pop one.

Until Baby MyID and his twin brother Sibername go crying to Mama CIRA because they pooped their pants, and she cleans it all up for her little darlings.

it reminds me of a couple of mafia families controlling politicians and the police.and they are getting away with it because it's little ol' canada and nobody else in the domaining world is paying any attention. i think if this kind of blatant favoritism (bordering on criminal activity) was happening in the u.s. the lawmakers in the state and federal legislatures would be all over it. and because it would be across state lines the fbi also. in order for .ca's to be listed on the www isn't cira answerable to a world governing body?

And it's very interesting that both MyID and Sibername had the exact same "contact field" problem adhering to the CIRA regulations, while everyone else did not - really makes you wonder if MyID and Siber have joined forces to truly game the system using the same software and algorithms?

If 2 companies with this much CIRA influence and server resources actually joined forces, it would be easy to make sure that their combined efforts resulted in them winning 90%+ of the top premium domains.

Otherwise, what are the odds that the 2 powerhouses of TBR both had the *exact* same technical issue, yet no one else did. :xf.wink:

So it was your bot then?😃

I'll say one other thing about this then I'll let it rest.

I back ordered over 30 names from 7 different registrars. I spend thousands of dollars every month on regs, renewals and TBR. Not one of them bothered to email me to let me know about a problem with the TBR.

How's that for customer service?

There is nothing on CIRA's main page(mobile) about today's fiasco.

Back to my old trope. The Canadian presence requirements: It is fundamentally about protection from better competition. About protecting an insider group and insulating that group from best business practices.

Without WalMart you would be standing in line at Sears for hours to return the product you paid 3x more for.

This organization is not filling it's mandate to manage the extension for all Canadians.

I'll get my flame suit on again.

I had no horse in this race and I'm mostly rebelling against the fixed game we're playing and refusing to process 20K+ domains for next week's guide.

I did it once, but never again.

Probably the same as if you used the words ETHICS, ACCOUNTABILITY, MATURITY, and CALCULUS.

Well - I suppose each registrar might have their own terms of service regarding automation. However, they'd have to first of all, care... And second of all, they'd have to prove it and try to stop it. If you're a programmer, its easy to do. I make them all the time to do tasks and have used them over the years to do many various things, from numerous types of data mining to automated day-trading of alt coins, etc... So I probably _should_ build one to snipe bids but I don't bother because I usually do my sniping by hand if I'm so inclined to do so.

As for who's doing it, either the registrars themselves, or domainers who are programmers. I used to use a company called egate for TBRs many years ago. But then a day came when I noticed that almost every bid I placed was bumped and outbid with 1 second left. Every week. Almost every domain. I presume it was the registrar itself rather than a customer but I'm not sure. I got the feeling they were using TBR mostly for private use and that the public facing TBR was just for show. I figured they wanted me to go away, so I did. Whether it was a customer or the registrar itself, it didn't really matter. When you never win a domain, you quit wasting your time...

And when your spidey senses start telling you something is fishy, trust is lost, people quit using your system. Unless of course its a monopoly run by a gov't organization that has no apparent accountability or transparency. Then you're stuck using them whether you like it or not, right CIRA?
