Premium listings, or Listed as Premium, are a selling point and often serve a profit center for some marketplaces.

you should be able to recognize difference between a premium listing and a premium domain.
as often they aren't the same

imo..

Probably a domain that most people would assume could easily sell for at least $1000 if auctioned today.. Maybe not $1000. Someone's threshold could be $5000 or something, but you know
Most domains here, if they were auctioned today in a domainer auction, might reach $10 or $20
Good ones might go into the 3 figures
A real Premium should usually reach at least 4 figure.. I think..

Or a domain that even most non-domainers would understand why it is in high demand / valuable..
Common phrases, words, short domains..
FreshStart.com, Skill.com, ZAK.com..
Something you would be really proud to own..

well the aim of domaining is to study long and hard enough to know on your own what is a good ("premium") domain.. and what is not... without you being able to know this on your own.. no tools or shortcuts will help you.

really.. there is no quick easy or simple anythign in domaining.. there is just 100s of hours of learnign and studying domaining.

if you "read" their post, they don't mention their budget, which is a requirement for that section.

also, they are a new member, who doesn't have any trader rating points
additionally, they want you to send names to their gmail address

and..... if you read further down the thread, they want names with at least 150 monthly searches
that to me, that does not give indication that they know what premium is, either

and.... if you scroll to bottom of page, you'll see that the thread was closed.

so, based on that alone, would you bother responding to that request?

Easy: if you read "Premium", most likely it's not Premium.

Premium is a concept inherently attached, a permanent attribute that can not be freely decided or easily anounced. Its just there and everyone understands it.

The best tool is between the ears...one persons 'premium' may be anothers 'fair'.

It's like the old saying 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and the same is true with domains with the exception of 2 or 3 letter dot coms. Those, by any stretch of reason, are ultra premium and super premium no matter what they may or may not spell.

Many new gtld domains have a premium renewal, but a premium renewal != a premium domain.

Sure why not! Heres my answer:
There is no way to determine if a domain is a premium. Its all on the end user's opinion on the domain.

There is a premium renewal which is set by the registry, but I believe this is not what he is asking about.

Def of a Premium Domain -
a) Any domain name, no matter extension or viability of, that is for sale on NP.
b) Any domain name requested to buy, with a budget of under $100.

Don't believe it, check the buy/sell threads here on NP.

Domain appraisal tools/services are the closest you can get to a tool that does that, but you'll have to decide the line where premium begins. I've heard domainers say it's not premium unless it's worth $50,000.00+ and others say $10,000.00+.

Everyone has a different opinion. Each tool will have its own opinion, too.

This sentiment is mostly true: it doesn't matter.

Someone (or someones) deciding that a domain name is premium will not help it sell for more than it would have without their opinions.

If they're not buying, then their opinion doesn't matter.
