hello namepros,

today I received an legal notice email regarding copyright infringement for one of my domain riograndemedical (.com). I purchased the domain from godaddy auction. I already removed the contents.

I have attached the legal notice.

Please read the letter and help me regarding my next course of action.

You actually copied their old website, all files and all content previously owned by these guys and tried to sell them? Damn, that's not smart at all, is it?

Just give them back the domain, their lawyers are pretty much spot on this:

"...especially when used with a copy of the very web content previously used by our client—are being used in a deliberate attempt to inappropriately draw web traffic and mislead site visitors. Additionally, your blatant copying and use of our client’s website content, with full knowledge of our client’s rights is willful copyright infringement under the United States Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §§ 100, et seq.)."

I see they sent the letter to GoDaddy as well...

Thanks for making the industry and domainers look even dirtier.
No wonder they call us squatters and scalpers. Who knows what else.
People notice patterns eh.
Thats why people generalize and group people according to actions performed by said people within same group.
Not very smart as stated above.
Actually quite stupid what you did, glad your out some money for the trouble you caused everyone.
Copyright theft can also be considered dishonest.
Is stealing someone else content make you a thief?
At very least it will cause a company to spend money on a lawyer and i’ll bet they enjoyed doing that.
Wanna squat go to the gym

As an experienced domainer how could you do such a stupid thing like copying their content ? Pull that stunt with one of us and we will get you banned.

I am unable to say because I didn't see the site you copied. Regardless, copying someone's content is always an infringement to their copyrights

This is what happens when inexperienced people read SEO related forums, take BlackHat SEO tricks, & think they discovered a new secrete that no one else was ever smart enough to think of. There a a few free archive replicate programs floating around - hopefully this is a good lesson. Leave Black Hat to the experts - & they usually could care less about the domains we invest in, so it works out perfectly.
