Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

* The JACKPOT is now at $200 Total + 1 Efty Growth subscription

Great contest hosting work!

Just as an aside for subsequent tie breakers, who posted first maybe should never be a tie-breaker as that has nothing to with the the domain.

Congrats @mani0307

Also, thanks to the sponsors

I want to point out something else that is a positive!

The month of March I registered these domains:

ExchangeRateCo.com
HoodEvents.com
PostModernLady.com
SmartCommode.com

Just a few years ago that was a days worth of domains . . . though I do also think these names are better today than then! Anyways I think it is pretty cool.

Congrats @mani0307

Thanks @BrandCougar and all the members who contributed to the prize..

And also not to forget #Efty @Doron Vermaat for generous prize...thanks :)

Great work by all...

In last couple of days there was unnecessary discussion...which will influence the voting...still members didn't impressed with it...it seems.

Congrats to winners ) I don't do many hand regs, but happy that with a quick scan got a top 3 name in Globeta, also happy with Badgey and Dialster, those are keepers too. Maybe I should do more hand regs after all ))

--- QUICK FOLLOW-UP ---

Both prizes have already been delivered to the Winner - @mani0307

I received confirmation from @Doron Vermaat and @mani0307 that the EFTY subscription setup has already occurred.

Additionally, I have confirmation from @mani0307 that the Jackpot (cash) payment has been received.

It is important that all prizes be promptly provided to the Winner following a contest completion.

I want to thank Doron (of Efty.com) for the fast service provided. Truly a professionally run operation. It's nice to have a sponsor that delivers on their promise. That has clearly been the case with Efty.com

I also wanted to thank @mani0307 for offering and generously contributing $50 of his cash prize to our April Hand Reg contest Jackpot. A class act and one that will provide fuel for this month's contest.

Best of luck to everyone with the current April contest. I have been contacted by a couple NP members already and the Jackpot for April is starting to grow (again). A jackpot announcement will be arriving shortly over on the (new) April contest.thread ---> Click HERE to jump to the April Hand Reg Contest.

More fun to follow!

@BrandCougar - One quick question, what if one (or more) of submitted names are sold during the Contest?

@BrandCougar - One quick question, what if one (or more) of submitted names are sold during the Contest?

@dexdn -

Wow - Great question.

First - I would say congratulations and well done!

Second - As I reflect on your question, I can see (3) avenues available. (and - sad to say - I am certain that no matter which path I pursue - someone in this universe will scream bloody murder - so be it)

Avenue # 1 - a participant at any time can withdraw their entry from the contest. (probably self evident - but thought I should mention that)

Avenue # 2 - "ownership as of the moment of submission" - as of the moment you submitted the domain to the contest, you had ownership - and regardless if you sold the name during the month, your entry (one that you owned) qualified as it was owned by you and under the contest rules as the Creation Date was within the March 2019 time period and the domain was a .COM

Avenue # 3 - "ownership as of submission and through to winner declaration" - as of the moment you submitted the domain and thru the entire contest process, you maintained ownership.

Let me be clear - I did not define "ownership duration" in the original thread post. Implied, assumed, this question was not something I originally considered, therefore, for the March Hand Reg contest I am inclined to go with the widest and loosest interpretation which is "ownership as of the moment of submission".

Going forward now becomes the issue. I will amend the April contest rules this weekend to provide clarity.

My thoughts - Going forward - the act of "hand regging" is the contest focus and continues to be what we are recognizing (celebrating) during the contest. I have a hard time "penalizing" or holding hostage someone for being successful (selling the domain). As long as they did the registering and owned the name at the moment of submission, I am fine with that. But the issue that is taunting me... is preventing someone from using the fact they sold the name as a lobbying vehicle for trying to shift contest selection results. And having to additional verification processes to a contest multiplies the level of time and effort needed to host one of these puppies. So, to be honest, I would be fine with making the statement (for future contests - not March) that going forward "ownership as of moment of submission qualifies - as long as you send me a DM notification post submission that it has since sold and you agree not to publicize the fact it sold post submission - then I am fine with that"

BUT... we all know there will be a troll or some other competitor that if they hear a Finalist name was sold post submission will screw the pooch and post it (just to be a mean spirited bitch) and the chaos that would following would be a cluster and damage the spirit of the event. So I also have a risk management side of me that says (going forward - not March) "ownership must be maintained during the entire contest thru to the moment the Winner is announced" to avoid post Winner Announcement anarchy.

Having expressed my views and thoughts on the topic - please share yours so I can make an amendment this weekend on the April contest to avoid a finale misunderstanding or derailment in early May.

@dexdn - you raised a great question - Thank you. Please share you thoughts (via DM or on this thread) on the topic.

I also am asking anyone else still watching this thread to share their thoughts on the topic (either via DM or on this thread).

Again - I am not interested in turning March's contest into a sh*t show. The results stand and I am taking the widest and loosest interpretation (as mentioned above) as we are now post-Winner announcement at this point.

However, I am very interested in hearing what others have to say about how I should define April's contest.

Thank you,

-Cougar

It should be fine. Prize (if the name is a winner) goes to original registrant and poster, regardless of whether it sells.

Thank you for letting us be a part of this fun contest! We're looking forward to the next one!

-- DECISION --

Let's keep it simple.

I decided to go with the simplest solution going forward - "ownership as of the moment of submission" - as the act of "hand regging" (skill of finding a useful and marketable name) is the contest focus and continues to be what we are recognizing & celebrating during the contest. I have a hard time penalizing someone for being successful and selling their domain post-submission. Congrats to them!

You will see it now noted in the 1st paragraph of April's contest.

---> Click HERE to jump to the April Hand Reg Contest. <---

I hope this helps to provide clarity to the question asked earlier.

-Cougar

Avenue # 2 - "ownership as of the moment of submission" - as of the moment you submitted the domain to the contest, you had ownership - and regardless if you sold the name during the month, your entry qualifies as it was owned by you at the moment of submission.
