I'd like to register a .de domain through hexonet - wondering if this will cause any legal troubles...thank you!

No you need to be a resident with a business in order to have one I once partnered with someone to buy one however ended up losing it.

About .de Domains

Registration requirements The administrative contact for the domain name must have an address in Germany and, if not, Godaddy provide a proxy service.

Cheers

I will try my luck with one, I have an EU address, in the worst case scenario, I will lose $8
I always wanted to buy one but did not research, I think I have found what I need now :)

For anyone interested, here is their 'Terms and Conditions' which states:

It can be found here:
https://www.denic.de/en/domains/de-domains/domain-terms-and-conditions/

I'm in EU and I always use registrars that provide a trustee service for my .de domains (eg. Epik)

I owned the same .de domain for 3 years, and it was active on a large website. I changed my address to a random German one that didn’t exist, and wasn’t checked on at all. Yes, you could risk losing $8, but if you do need a .de domain, it’s worth the risk.

I registered a few .de in the past. realized only single word .de preferably german language words are valuable and "easier" to sell.

two word combos? less valuable. I think? unless someone tells me otherwise.

anyone? and I am in the USA in case you are wondering.
