Hand Registration Contest - March 2019 - DOT COM only

I would love to see a .Best contest hosted by @namemarket [hint, hint]

I just meant there are few sales and over supply.

The example of hotels.best imo is improper use of spanning the dot. It is not grammatically correct. Best.Hotels is better. Now a good example imo would be BestOfThe.Best or OnlyThe.Best or single word spanning the dot like Dum.best

Just my thoughts.

It's amazing you really think that is true. So you prefer to own example names on list such as Securexo (dot com) and SelfEffects (dot com) compared to sex.best and hotels.best

So sorry for bothering you.

I can’t believe you guys are critiquing and pushing names mid vote. It’s a contest not an appraisal. Look there are names on the final list I am not into but would never post about it and offend the owners. Doing so mid voting is attempting to manipulate people’s opinions aka votes.

Hey ladies and gentlemen, while I agree that it's just a game, we need to also see from an angle that this contest transited into a reality show with so many views. Contestants put their time, money and hearts in this contest so u can't blame someone for being disappointed in one way or the other (my opinion though).

I am sure some of you will agree with me that there are some names that are far better that did not make the list only because they did not have enough likes. Well, the contest is not perfect but it was sure worth the ride. I for one enjoyed it.

Shout out to @BrandCougar who did a wonderful job in coordinating this contest and we must appreciate the time and effort he put in to ensure this contest thrived, especially the contests within the contest, and sponsors.

Shout out also to @Want2learn for conceiving this idea and initiating it. This contest made me put my mind to work on trying to find good handregs, and while I had not enough likes on any of my 7 entries (a whole seven), am very happy and proud with the names I came up with.

We all should remember the fact that the real winning here is you being able to sell your handreg. So the question really is, "is your handreg enduser friendly?"....time will tell for all of us.

Shout out also to all the sponsors (known & unknown), thank you for being generous enough to motivate us all. Even if there was no price, am sure we wud still have competed for bragging rights.

One more thing, I may be wrong but I think as this contest continues monthly (if it does), we may begin to see diminishing returns in the quality of handregs as good .coms will become scarcer to handreg.

Apologies for the long post, I just wanted to share my two cents. Nice competing with you all, and congrats to the winner whoever it is.

Clearly Josh R is lobbying against the domain with the most votes.

New Rule suggestion:

- no discussing names during voting
- no comments or suggestion re the contest here at this stage. Open a thread and discuss the next one, provided you did not kill any desire by anyone to donate their time, effort, money for the next one.

I hope Brandcugar has thick skin to deal with it.

@BrandCougar I know your busy with this, and congrats on the huge success! If I may, a suggestion for the next contest. Perhaps it's been considered already. A way of listing the domains for the contest anonymously, with no way of tying them to the member until after voting is completed.

Many times, we "like" or vote for something more of because of the member it's tied to, and this would remove that sort of bias, keeping the system pure, completely based on the name itself.

Perhaps all entries would be submitted directly to yourself or someone you appoint, who would then post the names as they are submitted directly to the thread.

The topic has come up, but the concern I see with that approach is that the thread would look like a one-member-contest and would lose member engagement / voice and also the member creativity (design work).

I did only list the Finalist Domains and not the Owner in the Final Poll Choice List for the reason you mentioned.

I am not sure I know of a way to make it a funnel, without maintaining an open, engaging, and transparent process.

I do appreciate your suggestion and will take it into consideration if I host further contests. That's also a decision I need to make today.

One (little) side note - hosting a contest is crazy time consuming. Not so bad when there is only 3-4 pages of submissions, but an entirely different story when it racks up to 35+ pages. Another item to consider is by adding addition checks and process steps to the ointment - it might make it impossible for me to keep up with the submission volume.

Just to add, users could still submit their designs along with the names to you, which you could post alongside. As well, to keep it anonymous but keep it engaging, perhaps a separate list of the users whom submitted names could be added every could days or at the end of every week in a bulk method of sorts.

eg: This days submissions by @ abcd123 @123abcd @ example1 etc etc

but I understand how having everything directly submitted to you might make it more time consuming, rather than less.

We should pay a small fee for each submission, IMO. To pay the hard working and excellent host. If @BrandCougar is up for new contests like this, I'll be full of admiration.

Yup - I decided to run another one.

The rules are very similar to March's contest, however, a couple of new twist to the rodeo - starting off with the introduction of Battle Rounds.

There will be 3 different avenues to make it to the Finalist Match during April.

What is a Battle Round?
