Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

* Sponsors welcome. Send me a PM.

JACKPOT UPDATE:

* The JACKPOT is now at $200 Total + 1 Efty Growth subscription

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think it would be fun to have a contest where the winner is selected based on the value of the hand registered name. Each domainer has to give their own name a value based on evidence (past sells, google trend, etc.) We can use the same "like system" and have finalists at the end. The final voting could be between 3 finalist. What would be awesome is to have a professional broker look over the final 3 names. He/she would then select the winner and give a short reason why they choose that member's domain name. The winner would get a professional appraisal for their name from that appraiser.

Now we just need a broker or a professional appraiser to sponsor the contest. BrandCougar can set it up for us. J/k You do such a good job hosting!

Oh yeah... Money can still be on the line too!:xf.grin:

--- COME ON FOLKS! ---

This is a contest thread, intended for fun & entertainment.

Some of the post-contest chatter is unnecessary.

>> "were the panalists given the entire list of domain names registered to select from?"

@smartwebby -

Yes - the panelist were provided the entire list of Qualified Entries - prior to and without the "Likes" tally attached. The username's for each entry were also not attached. Only a list of Qualified Entries was provided to pick from.

I have full confidence in their integrity and greatly appreciate their time participating as such.

All effort on my part was made to be fair and reasonable.

While I recognize you are passionate about your personal domain choices - this is simply a contest, intended for fun & entertainment.

Thanks.

-Cougar

Thanks so much Cougar. However you have failed to mention that the qualified list was based on likes (2+ likes cutoff). Why would you qualify them on likes?? There could be a fantastic name by someone who registered just before the contest ended. See my point??. I am not trying to put the contest down. Just point that definitely the best domains didn't come up in the top 27. This might not be in line with some people's thinking coz they think I am biased coz of my own submissions but that is not it. I rest my case and I will definitely not be participating in any further contests that are not completely 100% unbiased.

Best regards,
Anita

I think the 'qualified list' means all submitted .com domains regged on March. Not based on likes.

@Namulator -

I've had a few contest requests.

It's a huge time commitment. And the winner selection process (regardless of what approach used) always has a few individuals at the finish line critiquing the outcome. (as we are experiencing now in the contest thread)

Thank you for the suggestion - it's an interesting idea - but I am reluctant to take on additional volunteer projects.

Hi @smartwebby -

Qualifying a submission for the contest, was based on checking Whois to determine if the Creation Date of the submission entry was within the month of March 2019.

"failed to mention that the qualified list was based on likes"

What?

To clarify - the "Qualified Entries" list was a summary list of all submission entries that met the qualification of having a Whois Creation Date in the month of March 2019.

I was fully transparent and provided weekly updates for everyone watching the thread on which names during the month had met the March 2019 qualification.

Respectfully, your statement above is inaccurate as I was fully transparent on which submission entries met the March 2019 qualification and also should mention that the "Likes" voting had no bearing on which submissions qualified for the contest. Qualifying for the contest simply required the domain had to be a .COM and had to have a Creation Date within the month of March 2019. .

The reiterate - your statement above is inaccurate.

Just compare how many likes and thanks you have received compared to the negative comments. Don't let the few ruin your great works. You did good! Be proud. I'm not going to win but I promise I had already decided to split the jackpot with you 50/50. You deserve something for your hard work!

Sorry that's not what I meant. Anyway let's chuck it. It's a fun contest like u said and I got my names to develop thanks to you. Wish you all the best for future contests. 🤗

@Namulator -

Thanks for your kind words.

The 50/50 split would have been a generous gesture, but I would have applied (re-gifted) the split towards a future contest to avoid scrutiny. (thank you for the gesture tho)

To be clear - It's been a lot of fun and I have truly enjoyed and appreciated the dialogue exchange. And along the way I have met some great individuals in the process. The dialogue both on the this thread and via DM have been insightful.

Thanks,

-Cougar

Doing this was a very good idea but I am sorry to say the names are so bad I doubt a professional broker would want to participate in it.
