Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

* The JACKPOT is now at $200 Total + 1 Efty Growth subscription

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Another thanks to @BrandCougar and also the panelists involved in this contest. It was a success and I think NP allowing the voting to be put on the sidebar above the fold shows they saw the value in it themselves.

Second, no need for negativity! No, it shouldn't have "none of the above". If it is that, just don't vote, as that option won't affect the winner anyway. No one expecting to find insurance.com in the hand reg. These are 20 that received the highest of the submitted and it is what it is! You don't like it, you should have shown your best one and maybe all would have agreed with you.

I just voted anyway because I wanted to see the results but noticed it was low in results.

Oops, too late!
By the way reading thread rules would be nice.
This was for hand reg in the month of March and it's done.
Seems your name was registered in January and wouldn't have qualified for this contest.

The finalist for the month of March are located in the voting poll.
@Mak519 ,You can contribute by voting for the 3 that you think are best.

Congrats to all the finalist and good luck!

Thanks to the participants, panelist, donators to the jackpot, and special thanks to @BrandCougar for an amazing job with this contest.

Would be difficult to do because have not reg'd com's in a long time with all my recent reg in dot-best

Seeing how you are a .best'er and not even regging .coms anymore, I can see why you would not like any of these hand regs. It is much harder to hand reg a good .com than it is to reg a good .best (although I hear it is getting harder with .best).

This is why the contest is only for .COM, because it is the hardest TLD to find a good hand reg.

Great job done by @BrandCougar but I am a bit disappointed that the criteria for selection of the finalists were only based on number of likes received. Based on your selection process explanation post I was under the impression that 10 of the final 20 would be selected by a panelist from the entire list of submitted domains so that the quality of the domains mattered more than chance likes or late entries. For example I was sure that my Preaptitude.com name would figure in the list selected by a discerning panalist because its a single word noun .COM. Where do we get these kinds for hand registration anymore?? Also BusinessNamez.com and BusinessNameConsultant.com beat most of these on the final list IMHO.

Anyway, onward and upward :)

The rules have been clear. The contest has been managed fairly and imo beautifully. A really fun and positive exercise.

Glad to see so much interest from the community. Quite talented @BrandCougar !

I actually like them better than the list finalists, especially businessnamez.com and also don't think the fact nameZ fails the radio test is a huge negative because what with the massive decline in type-in traffic the misspell may not be a big issue like it was several years ago.

in fact, nameZ is better in some ways since it seems like it can be trademarked but probably not the generic nameS

the beauty is in the eyes of beholder...

That is why likes was a good way to do it, imho, with some mix of panelists and overall has been great experience. Just being dictionary word doesn't mean much. A business must want to be named by that name and many dictionary words might not be suitable (I am not saying this one isn't).

Each of us might have selected different 20, but the beauty of the crowd is that it boils down all of those choices to this combination and each of us might disagree, but we must learn to accept. It is called democracy.

And can we stop ruining it here and maybe open some review thread or suggestion thread for the next round?

Well I think a couple of you have got my question wrong. Simplifed I am just asking "were the panalists given the entire list of domain names registered to select from?" and not a list based on likes. Coz obviously the domain names registered on the first few days and the last few days would get different amount of exposure. The panalists selecting 10 domain names should have been given the full list is my opinion and I stand by it.

The following quoted post from the previous page might help to answer your question although I can't say all panelists did things similarly...

For those interested, this is how I told @BrandCougar I would be judging the domains ...

Ategy.com said:
Basically I'm looking for the ones I'd want most in my portfolio. The ones I'd think would get me the best return and have the best chance of selling. So effectively while some might be really cool or original, if there's no end user, it's going to be a no for me.

Then based on that I did 3 elimination rounds going down to 113 domains, then 52 domains and finally 36.

I then put the final ones through Estibot just to make sure none had any traffic or CPC stats on keyword domains which might have merited extra attention (I didn't look at the actual Estibot value at all). In the end the Estibot part didn't really change much from what I already would have thought.

However, 6 keyword domains that I thought could maybe have traffic value (the reason I kept them until my Estibot round) didn't have enough for me to consider them investment grade, so that brought me down to 30. From there I made a top10 (no order) and "the next 5" (again no order) as I wasn't sure if BC needed 10 or 15 names.

Congrats to all the finalists and the eventual winner! :)

Truly the best way to run this would be annoymous submission so no one could say anything or that anyone was voting with a bias. I know that is pretty impossible to do. So we just have to accept this is the best method to conduct this kind of contest.

@Eric Lyon
There is a bug, you can vote multiple times in the sticky right column poll!

I just checked on this. While it appears you can vote many times, it will only record your vote for a domain once, even if you keep submitting a vote for that same domain more than once.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes I checked.. it seems what it does is changing your current vote, no multiple voting on same domain
So it is same as clicking "change your vote" button on the thread poll

This list is terrible! Epic...which is either is an example of the quality of the names that were submitted or the quality of judgement behind the votes.

@smartwebby -

Yes - the panelist were provided the entire list of Qualified Entries - prior to and without the "Likes" tally attached. The username's for each entry were also not attached. Only a list of Qualified Entries was provided to pick from.

I have full confidence in their integrity and greatly appreciate their time participating as such.

All effort on my part was made to be fair and reasonable.

While I recognize you are passionate about your personal domain choices - this is simply a contest, intended for fun & entertainment.

Thanks.

-Cougar
