And it needs some taming. No April Fool's, this one is running around wild as of today. Are you going to catch one, or leave this one under the bed?

Feel free to discuss and showcase your scary, or nice .monster names here.

Hmmm.... really ??

So how many businesses do you know with an affiliation to a monster or anything relating to it?

domain.monster?

Monster Domains would be better.

In my opinion it has limited potential because unless you are looking to name your business something related to monster then the extension would have no interest. Other than to domainers of course who will probably end up funding the entire extension in the end.

My opinion is stick to .com and ccTLD's when possible unless the gTLD has a definite (premium) business application. Caution is the word with gTLD's.... think twice before clicking the purchase button, one can easily get carried away and then comes the big drop.

Talking about drops.... keep an eye on .dev the drops should be in full swing soon.

I'm not a ngtld fanboi personally, but "monster" has always been a popular suffix for business names and brands since probably late 90's, just like "Zilla". One popular company that comes to mind is Template Monster. There's also Host Monster. I'm sure there are quite a few others large and small you can find in Google.

The idea behind [product/service]Monster is to say "we are a big player in our industry".
Monster[product/service] works, too, but [product/service]Monster has always been more popular.

No arguments there, monster is a popular name but let me put it this way.

All the domain names in the world, now break them into groups...

1. All the domains in the world
2. All the domains with the word monster in them

Which group would you rather do business in?

So not only are you in a gTLD but you are also in a very small pool of names.

The only reason I say that is because it's not a generic gTLD like .pro or .top which could be applied to almost any business. Instead .monster is going to be very very niche.... unless you are the owner of Epik :xf.wink:

Guilty as charged. :cigar:

The idea is looking for companies using an alternative to the .com while the .com is offered for sale for big bucks or is in use by some other company. Of course it would be stupid to offer the extension to the .com owner but I see possibility lesser-extension owners might be interested, if priced correctly.

I agree that there isn't much of a big market for this extension but it is new and I've been waiting for a new .ninja to try this method out.

Testing the waters with this one for now.

I think you mean .app right? And I agree as it was wildly domain speculated although the highest number are in China and I think there are many sales there not making it to NameBio.

Why choose? One could do business in both if the find the value in it. What am I missing here? Why does one have to choose either or?

Thank you for catching that.

Great
talentmonster.com 890 USD 2011-08-31 Sedo
I mentioned it, not for investment purposes, but to augment his personal brand. Bob runs nametalent/com.

Anyhow, Corey picked it up.

Domainmonster.com ran for many years, they recently just shut their doors. Another example of a monster name.

Did a good night's rest give some clarity on what you were mulling over, @EbookLover ?

Nice TLD. It's up there with .horse and .rocks for sure.

You don't have to chose, it's about doing business in the biggest market place .com and ccTLD's or in the smaller marketplaces.

Kinda like... I would rather sell to Amazon than a ma and pa shop because I know I would reach more people. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with selling to ma and pa but if I'm going to have over 1000 domains I want the widest audience possible.

Thanks for pointing out the talent monster. I did consider it and feel it is a good name and wish @Corey the best with it. Impressive to be fast and running quick with it.

Just to clarify my association with NameTalent while I do write there I do not own the domain name (in fact I don't even know who does) nor manage the technical side of the site. The site goes back about 10 years and has lots of good content (more than 500 posts) written by Mike before I started writing.

Re .monster I agree that it is different from most new extensions in that it applies to far fewer possible users, but also has greater brandable than many. Of course need to watch the existing TMs. I may get a couple I am looking at but have not done so yet.

Oh yea @HotKey It was uni that raised price, not xyz which is .monster. I messed up blaming xyz here. Point still, there are going to be 1000's of new TLD, no sense to put all eggs in 1 basket. I just see a lot, new people come and whatever NEW TLD comes out, they reg 100 of them.

I'm still not 100% sure. But for now, I decided to forego regging of the .monster domain I have in mind.

I may change my mind in the future, and if someone regs it in the meantime, no big deal.

My 2 main reasons for my decision are:
1. I don't need another personal project right now.
2. Deep down inside, I really hate TLDs longer than 4 characters - in fact I think 4 chars is too long (.CC is king IMHO :-P).

.cc always reminds me of credit card

Shocked that visa is not using visa.cc, that would have been pretty cool :xf.cool:

Too narrow targeting for this extension I prefer to stay away

.CC has so many positive points in terms of marketability.

But it will only ever be king in my world lol

As far as meaning, it has so many. Credit Card, Crypto Corrency, Community Center, Cycling Club, Country Club, Critical Care, Community College (well, .edu kills that, though it could be used for a supplemental domain for marketing or something)...

But I digress.

pink()monster - super odd, had to do some weird tm acknowledgement to buy it(the clothing co), but it was reg fee when all other colors were $240 or more. I'll take that risk. I can think of 5 other things this name is good for, clothing never even comes to mind.

Was gonna hit the buy button on that one but decided not to due to the TM issues it may bring. Take care and best of luck with it mate!
