Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

* Sponsors welcome. Send me a PM.

JACKPOT UPDATE:

* We have had (9) NP members generously contribute additional funds to the JACKPOT.
* The JACKPOT is now at $200 Total + 1 Efty Growth subscription

You've really done a bang-up job with this contest @BrandCougar! Very impressed by all the time and effort put into this.

Was it ever announced who is making up the panel of judges?

>> Was it ever announced who is making up the panel of judges?

@Joe Nichols -

The panelist names will be announced when I announce the Top 20 Finalist. None of the panelist submitted entries to the contest, so there will be no conflict of interest.

Additionally, I will provide a clear outline of the model (aka "formula") used to derive the Top 20 Finalist from my end.

The entire "Likes" voting summary will be provided along with the Panelist consolidated results.

There will be no ambiguity on how the Top 20 Finalist list was created as it will be objectively derived from data that was generated by the "Likes" voting audience and the Panelist - and I will share all the data with the entire audience (after I get it finished). :xf.wink:

A lot of this is manual tallying... hence the reason I'm a little loco at the moment. An automated API certainly would have been helpful.

The "Likes" Data report is now completed. More labor intensive than I originally anticipated, but the deed is done and the report is now completed and has been x-check multiple times. I will share the summary report with everyone when I make the Top 20 Finalist announcement tomorrow (Tuesday 2nd).

I will consolidate "Likes" voting with all received Panelist feedback tomorrow (Tuesday 2nd) and will announce the Top 20 Finalist at that time.

Immediately following the Top 20 Finalist announcement, I will re-add the NP Poll to this thread for LIVE voting for the Winner. Once the poll is LIVE, the Finalist Poll will be active for 72 hours (3 day window) to select the Winner.

We are still on target to make the Winner Announcement on Friday 5th.

Thanks for all the likes ladies and gents. I don't normally hand-reg domains but glad I could contribute a little to the community. I saw some nice entries and think @BrandCougar did a good job.

Busy times for me at the moment but I'll try to contribute a hand-reg each month :)

@Shamiul Alam I like the domain, but I also like the font of the letters.

Do you know what that font is called?
MyFonts has a great page where you can upload a PNG or JPG sample of a font and they will try to match it.

I increased the contrast in the sample from @Shamiul Alam and then uploaded it.

While it did not find the exact match, it found some similar fonts:

Core Sans M 85 Heavy
Panton Narrow Heavy
Comspot Black
Uni Neue Black

https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Yeah I also like the font, but it turns out I have already purchased some Core Sans M fonts :cat:

Thanks @BrandCougar for all the work you did in running the fun contest. It motivated me to get back into hand regging more often but above all it was eye opening to see the imagination of other NP members.

- TOP 20 FINALIST - Sorted Alphabetically -

(Yes - its 26 - Explanation Below)

(screen capture)

The Formula

The Formula, the model, the algorithm, the system, the secret sauce, the secret hand shake, the mystery code, the black box, the divine intervention, the inspiration, the calculation, the drum beat, the way you move it - move it, the method, the ingredients, the procedure, the process, the function, the blue print, the equation, the ritual, (okay - too much caffeine - let's get on with it)

The model used to derive the Top 26 Finalist is outlined below.

(entries with >= 9 "LIkes" ) + ( panelist picks >= 2 votes ) + (1 Golden Ticket from a Weekly Challenge)

( 21 + 7 + 1 ) - ( overlap duplicates) = TOP 26 FINALIST

* There was some overlap with the "Likes" list and the Panelist list (3 Entries), so the Top 26 Finalist list was established from 29 items - 3 duplicate items.

Yes, I tried the model with >= 11, but made a decision this morning to have this portion tip over the 20 mark prior to blending in the panelist picks and golden ticket. I found this to be a reasonable approach to determining the "breaking point" (cutoff line) for the tallying in the summary chart.

The reason I went with >= 9 - was so that a broader range of participants could be represented and given recognition. Additionally the (cutoff line) mark seemed to fit nicely into the model.

I did try >= 8 but there were too many Entries with 8 (16 items) and doing so made the Finalist List too lengthy and too far an extension beyond the original 20 target.

I wanted to share my thought process used when determining the (cutoff line) to provide as much transparency as possible with the approach used.

I feel confident we have a solid representation in our TOP 26 FINALIST list and the model used was fair and the list outlined above is accurate.

All data used to derive the Finalist list is outlined below for your review.

Data Sources:

- "Likes" Chart --> click HERE for a review of the consolidated chart (sorted by count).

- Panelist Picks --> see below screen captures.

"Likes" Chart

-- Below is a screen capture of all Entries with >= (9) provided. For a full view of all provided, double click on the image.

-- Please keep in mind that the data was acquired from the thread shortly after 1:00AM on April 1, 2019 - so if you view an original submission post today for an Entry and count currently displays more today than what is displayed the below chart, that would be the result of someone clicking after the data retrieval. Only "Likes" provided PRIOR to April 1st qualify.

Pls don't get me wrong, the final list reminds me of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" since it's based on likes!

It would be helpful for all users if you pls tag each names with submitter's username.

Expected a quality screening process which will be there with this list by the panelists.

Good luck and be the best name wins. 🙂

I feel confident we have a solid representation in our TOP 26 FINALIST list and the model used was fair and the list outlined above is accurate.

All data used to derive the Finalist list is outlined below for your review.

Data Sources:

- Qualified Entries --> click HERE for a review of all Qualified Entries

Panelist Picks

-- I want to thank the following NP members for participating as panelists and receptive to letting me post their names publicly.

-- I didn't provide them much notice prior to asking them to make their choices, so they all deserve a hats off for responding promptly and being so generous with their time yesterday.

Thank You!

@Ategy.com
@DKN
@Keith DeBoer
@trelgor

The items that are Yellow Highlighted were blended into the Top 26 Finalist list.

NEXT STEPS:
  • I will create the TOP 26 FINALIST POLL today (Tuesday April 2nd).
  • When I do so, I will tag all participants who submitted Qualified Entries.
  • The POLL will be set to last for 72 hours (3 days).
  • I will announce the Winner on Friday April 5th.

Thank you everyone for your participation and the positive tone provided in this month's contest.

Regards and Best of Luck to the Finalist!

-Cougar.
Amazing job @BrandCougar!

Just a note: unless I misunderstood the criteria, I believe my name CustomShoeDesign.com should be one of the finalists, as it received 16 likes and a panelist vote.

I agree, unless I am missing something, too.

Also, the one "thanks" you got should count as a like, making it 17 "likes". I noticed some people here on NP use "thanks" instead of likes even though there isn't anything to thank someone for. They just use "thanks" and never "like"

It's a nice domain based on true and properly arranged keywords cut for final list without even a single like.

Just saying 🤷‍♂️

Just for information: This "Thanks" at CustomShoeDesign.com was from me, but only for the nice information from Joe about this new contest, because i have start to post my first hand reg on a another wrong thread! Joe know that.

I think this 16 Likes are really correct and this top domain have to place in the top 20 List at the first lines. In this way again many many thanks to Couger for all! He spend a lot of time for all! Super!!! (y)

Has anyone sold or had any offers for their domains posted in this thread?

I did some outbound for my submission and have had a $200 offer. I quoted a higher price though and am sticking with it.

Be interesting to see how many have had offers or sales as that's the real test.

I wonder if in future contests we could have a separate prize or recognisation for when a name sells perhaps? Although I understand that could be years away.

Just a thought.
