... when someone tells you they are buying a domain and you laugh because it's terrible, but then you realize it's one of the thousand names you are trying to sell.

When you open a WTB thread asking for a domain already in your portfolio.

When you bid on your own drops.

When maintaining your renewals is affecting your credit-rating

When you look through the names in your portfolio and you have no clue how few of them ended up there.

When one actually *gasp* sells.

When you received payment from sedo and queried your secretary for accepting payment from a client below what was agreed in a contract signed by you

When you are considering acquiring a name, look up comp sales and finally realize a couple of the comp sales were your own sales,

When you got an inbound offer and you replay: - Sorry but that domain is not mine!

When you start concidering forming your own registrar because it'll be more cost effective.

When you put together a database/maintenance tool because you are worried Afternic and Sedo will ban you because you've sold multiple domains that you no longer own.

... checking Whois, you come across your own name almost as often as HugeDomains' name!

When you get daily calls from Indian GoLarry or AfterNeck offering design for a domain you don't remember you own.

When you acquire a name for a project you will probably never start anyway and a few months later when looking at your inventory you discover you already owned the plural or singular version as well.

When there is daily debit alerts for the renewals of craps

That happened to me recently.

When you meet friends and family for easter, christmas and birthdays and suggest domain names you have when they mention keywords during light conversation.
