BrandPa.com has announced their presence on NamePros...
Hi there! I'm sorry your experience with BB wasn't pleasant :/ If you'd like to try our marketplace please don't hesitate to do so :) We're new in the domaining industry but very eager to learn! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions :) This is us: https://brandpa.com/ (or if you'd like to read about the sellers' rules visit this page: https://brandpa.com/start-selling)

Look forward to hearing from you!
Granted, the above post is from the BrandBucket experience thread, and will likely be deleted for being off topic / wrong thread, it was the first time I heard of them. The founder, @Jowita Emberton, had introduced herself in an earlier thread:

Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

I'm creating this thread to discuss their marketplace, and for those who have experiences with them.

Here's what I know so far:

The founder, @Jowita Emberton, runs two other online businesses according to her LinkedIn page.

Delighten.co.uk - Web / brand design firm.

Weddination.com - Polish wedding services

According to her LinkedIn, she has been operating BrandPa since August 2016. Though, the last cached Archive.org screenshot is a server error on October 4, 2016 HERE

BrandPa.com (2006) is registered to Oliver Emberton, founder and managing director of SilkTide.com.

Currently, there are 562 domains published / listed on BrandPa. It appears most domains listed are handregged by the owners. Not 100% on this; I will run a check when my program is working again.

After reviewing their listings, I found two errors.

upload_2017-2-20_14-26-8.png The domain regged is MonoRaptor.com, but the text reads ManoRaptor.com

upload_2017-2-20_14-27-32.png The domain regged is UnknownVenues.com, but the text reads UnknownVenus.com

At first look:

Pros
  • No Listing Fee
  • FREE Logos
  • Domain Owner sets price ($1,000+)
  • Forwards all offers for sellers consideration
  • Brandpa is a pretty memorable / catchy brandable domain.
  • Select 'On-Sale' marketing section
upload_2017-2-20_14-34-49.png

Cons
  • Low Alexa Ranking (4,557,819)
upload_2017-2-20_14-36-32.png
  • New site. Assuming low organic traffic, and low type-in traffic due to quality and quantity of inventory.
  • Piggy-back branding off BrandBucket in site footer see below
upload_2017-2-20_14-45-31.png

upload_2017-2-20_14-41-42.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-42-20.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-43-14.png upload_2017-2-20_14-43-54.png

  • Reviews are all from .co.uk domains, yet BrandPa doesn't sell any .co.uk domains. A quick glance at other domains owned by the reviewers and I wasn't able to verify any brandable .com's with history tracing back to BrandPa.
upload_2017-2-20_15-10-41.png

Personal thoughts: I respect that they "allow the seller to submit more domain names" by not charging a listing fee. To me this shows they are willing to work for your exclusivity. Should they gain popularity, I wonder if they'll sustain this business model and/or if their logo / listing quality will decrease over time when resources are spread across the masses.

@Jowita Emberton = Feel free to comment / fill in any of the blanks. :penguin:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I dont recall Brandpa having a policy about not reporting sales. They have a list of domains recently sold on the front page of their site. So I'm not sure that's accurate, unless something has recently changed.

Thanks , that’s what I was wondering ....has something changed????? Have not heard of a BP sale in a good while ....I know you and others reported sales many months back ...I too was wondering about the sales at BP, it’s gone quite .

Sales is news, and news is publicity ..I think reporting sales is a good thing for every market place !

Why do you think Squad is getting so much attention all a sudden .

Congrats! I'm surprised more people aren't sharing their sales on this thread. What was the domain?

$3k NDA lol,

You are not seeing many sellers not reporting their sales probably because Brandpa doesn’t allow reporting sales on public forum. Even in Slack I've seen sellers were asked to mask the domain name when reporting a sale. This is probably the reason many sellers have stopped reporting their sales.

In the past I'd also published couple of my Brandpa sales at Namepros but after seeing they don’t allow this I have stopped reporting my sales. Personally I've sold 3 domains this year ( out of 125 names portfolio ) at Brandpa with approx total sale value of $16k. You are not seeing any reported sales but that doesn’t mean nobody is getting sale there.

I think i am not seeing many reported sales because most of seller on BP are from Mars (JK :xf.wink:)

Anyway, I don't want you tell every names & everything. What I wanted is only number.

I just had a chat with Jowita on Slack and she confirmed me that mentioning domain name is not allowed when reporting a sale so I figure that's the reason most seller's are not reporting their Brandpa sales.

On a side note - BrandBucket also does not allow reporting their sales on public forum but some seller have reported their sales here and BrandBucket doesn't do anything about it. Probably it's not a strict rule.

I must say this rule has been changed quickly because when I was active on BP slack I found some reported sales with Name and none have objection on it including Jowita.

Anyway Again I don't want to see the names, I wanted to know the number, eg brandpa has sold 500 names past months or BP has sold 3 names out of 7116 of listed name previous month.

They should show these type of statistics on their web site..
Not showing them, makes everything shady

My last sale there was 6 weeks ago. I have no complaints as my sales have been consistent since November. If you aren’t getting results you like it might be the names and not the marketplace.

Nobody reports their sales numbers. Go ask BB or SquadHelp to do that and good luck to you on getting that data. You might cry if you saw how little of 57K names sells in a year. They all consider that info proprietary.

We don't need to ask them we already seeing their sales here or somewhere .

What I wanted is only number.

I have been a member of BP for a year and a half and I have sold 9 names and my portfolio is 64 - You can make the math yourself.

I am also selling via BB - I had an average of 280 names listed last year and sold 8 - Again you can make the math yourself

I saw one telling us in the BB thread that he had almost 1000 names with BB but did not sell a single one last year - Why these differences? In my opinion, because it is more about quality and sense of what types of names that sells than numbers

While I totally agree with you, it's a bit weird that someone with 1000 names can't sell even one of them. It seems then that the approval process at BB is crap, and submitting domains to that marketplace doesn't have any advantage over submitting them to Afternic or Sedo. I believe that a portfolio of 1000 (even if the names are all mediocre, which is impossible because those got approved) should produce at least 1% sales each year. Something shady must be going on, no-one can be so unlucky.

I have nothing else to do with BB than list names with them and my names are not the first ones to appear when someone search for keywords or categories - Some have too many random 5-6-7 letters listed that look like all the other random 5-6-7 letter listed, instead of keywords based brandable or good 2 word combinations (just my humble opinion).

Yes, that could be the case - but then why does BB accept such names if they don't really count on selling them? Or - I guess adding a domain has no cost whatsoever, so BB can't really lose by pumping their inventory towards infinity...

why does BB accept such names

I do not know and are unsure why they approve so many that are similar - I even have some of them myself and for sure this is not the ones I sell

Are your sales still similar for post 3-6 months? I have had 1 small sale in the past 6-7 months on a 227 name portfolio, i.e. it is gotten much worse.

And most my names are not random letters.

Also it was BB choice and guidance to sellers to go for random combos. They had people believe that bb reject was worthless and bb listed automatically was a 50 dollar name.

Any marketplace that chooses name like vy/zii over noble/metal (rejected single dictionary term for precious metals that later sold for $12.5k) won't be successful in the long run.

Lucky to be you. I have about 420 domains on Brandpa and been with them for over a year now but no sale yet. My domains are getting lot of views but no sign of sale.

I will stay put and see what happens. Will keep you guys updated.

Thanks for sharing.

How is that possible?... :dead::dead::dead:

I have 37 domains / 50% are listed more than a year/ and no sales yet.

I have not had any sale at BB this year, so maybe the sales are downhill and I just got lucky last year?

And most my names are not random letters.

I can see at the names you have listed in your signature that you know what you are doing

I agree, many times I do not understand why they reject some very good names and I have sold a lots of their rejected names either via other brand sites or via afternic - The 4letter sale I mentioned above was a name rejected by BB

I contacted Brandbucket today to terminate/delete my account. After 30 days I'll move my domains to Squadhelp and Brandpa :greedy:

Not all domains accepted at BB will be accepted at BP. So, it will be better if you only move the accepted names.

There is some decrease in my clicks/favorites too, but I don't know what is the reason.
