Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Anybody do any sales and get paid via Payoneer ? I have a PN account that I have not really used and just realized that SH will allow for paypal AND payoneer. So I added PN as an extra payment option.

Any issues to watch out for with that one ?

PN is fine, no worries.

Not very keen on their logos. Just got a premium name approved and their logo is sub-par anything I would publish.

Should be an option to submit your own design, and they would have to approve it. Saves them a lot of work while elevating the visual appearance on their premium marketplace.

I'm getting payments from 2CheckOut to my Payoneer, for sales in my SEO domain shop. Also from Amazon, straight to Payoneer. Undev also should add Payoneer as a payout option soon, Reza said they already signed contract with them. On SH, i didnt sell anything yet, but i added my Payoneer.

Starting to figure out what they like, got another one approved today.

If you put up a domain as "basic plus" and then upgrade to premium and it is accepted, do they work on a logo after that ? I have two that have been upgraded recently and show them as "searchable", but both show simple text with light blue backgrounds, not a logo.

Yes, you should have a logo created for your name, but there is often a backlog. It's not unusual to have a wait time of a week or more.

"Overall Limits: Since you don't have any pending submissions, you can submit up to 200 domains for review."

Ok, that is a huge difference from the limit of 10 yesterday... :xf.confused:

I couldn't find any info in their TOS about listing SH names at other marketplaces. Is it BB style (not allowed to list anywhere else) or you can list in other places as well?

The policy varies, according to the type of listing. Here's a quote from the help section.
Can I also list my domains for sale in other platforms at the same time?

In order to ensure that the domains are available at all times, we require that you point your domain name servers to Squadhelp name servers (ns1.squadhelp.com, ns2.squadhelp.com) at all times while your listing is active.

If you have a Premium listing with Squadhelp, you are not allowed to list your domains for sale in a different website while your listing is active on Squadhelp platform. Premium listings should be exclusive with the Squadhelp Marketplace.

However, for Basic and Basic Plus listings you can list your domains on other sites as long as your name servers remain pointed to Squadhelp (ns1.squadhelp.com, ns2.squadhelp.com). Importantly, if you list your domain on another site, the selling price on that site can not be less than the selling price with Squadhelp.

In my experience, they really don't like BB style names, especially two words, & they really like BB rejects.

Seriously.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the basic plus domains can't be shortlisted, even if there are stats on the main dashboard about the % of the shortlist specifically for basic plus. And I think that the same applies for love/like's for basic plus....for example I have 3 love showing on the main dashboard, but which you can't track them anywhere, so probably they were meant to be for basic plus in contests.

That is another pain in the *ss.

This is the description I entered for a domain:

A fun name, for any well-connected business.

A week later, I was looking around & noticed the description changed, to:

A: "Where should we go tonight?" B: "I don't know. Somewhere fun?" A: "Ah, I know just the place.

Domain is F/u/n/V/e/n/u/e

Sure, it is a better description, close to being a story:ROFL: but if they were gonna change it anyway, why have us do it in the first place.

On BB, I just type domain. Please describe the name: "the domain" & they come up with top-notch descriptions in most cases. Unless its a new writer.

Check your domains approved for premium listing.

I had such experience where a name earlier rejected for premium listing was shortlisted by a potential buyer and they pre approved it for premium listing.

That increased their commission from 15% for basic listing where I left it, to 35% for premium listing. You will see a recommended price which you need to authorize before they can upgrade it to premium listing.

I've sent already some screenshots to SH and they could not say why it's like this, so it's not about basic plus or premium.

Some interesting stats shared by squadhelp in a recent article:

https://helpdesk.squadhelp.com/domain-marketplace/the-real-costs-of-listing-domains-in-marketplaces

As of March 2019, the 12 month Sell-through rate from Squadhelp premium domain Marketplace is above 20%. The 6 month sell through rate is above 9%.

In other words, for anyone who has listed their names with SH for over 12 months, they were able to sell over 20% of their portfolio on average. Based upon our research, this is currently the highest sell through across the industry.

SH's marketplace has a lot of potential and it's innovating the industry. The staff is also awesome and very open to feedback. A few things to keep in mind: most of the domains that were sold at SH were around the low $1,XXX range (mostly $1000-$1300 and some in the high $XXX range). Only recently the average sales price has begun to go up as SH started raising the average prices for domains and adding much more expensive inventory. There still are few sales above $2000, but I think that will change. In my opinion, the very high sale through rate has a lot to do with the fact that the amount of sellers there was small. Not a lot of sellers=high sell through rate. This rate will very likely go down as now a lot more sellers are there, but hopefully it'll continue to stay high for everybody and higher than the alternatives.

My first two sales with them were $2299 and $4199

@JudgeMind I'm aware. As I said... things are changing lately and you're still the exception. I've been following the marketplace from the very beginning, have 15 sales to date and have been following the data and the prices of each domain that sold there.

Congrats on your sales!

I agree that the sell through rate has more to do with very low prices and until recently not that many sellers. Only time will tell if it’s still consistent with more sellers and slightly higher prices.

The fact that installment plans exist (they're relatively new) will likely help make more sales happen in all ranges and SH has definitely been aiming higher with prices in recent months. I think the average sale price now is probably in the $1400-$1700 range. Sort of an educated guesstimate based on what I've been seeing sell.
