The problem with outlawing certain speech is, rules change based on who is in power. Better to debate bad ideas with good ones.

It seems as though there are some here that feel debating a subject is an endorsement of the subject. Debate and endorsement are not the same. They are very different. Much of how this thread started was due to "debate" and "endorsement" being misunderstood.

I have spent time at the UN, including twice last year. There is a lot of pomp and circumstance, however most of the heavy lifting on the really controversial stuff happens behind closed doors.

I am not sure how nations surrendering sovereignty over what their citizens are allowed to say can possibly end well.

Being called stupid for supporting free speech doesn't preclude calling your attacker an arrogant ass... or pointing out his own hypocrisy.
