I used my iMac for all my domaining business before, but now I’ve switched to an iPad. So instead of sitting at my desk with my computer, I’m now semi-sitting in my sofa with my tablet. Still, I try to work the same amount of hours per day.

It seems to work very well. Most of the websites I use are adapted for mobile platforms nowadays.

What about you? Are you mainly using your computer, your tablet, or your smartphone for your domaining? Or a mix of devices?

I upgraded, about 1.5yrs ago, from my beloved linux openSUSE hand build desktop to a top of the line Intel NUC 4.5" square box, with Windows 10. I'm not sure I really liked the term upgrade. For the hardware it was definitely an upgrade. I think it's been quite a mixed blessing in terms of the software. I think I actually prefer the more limited choices with linux software that the multitude array of software for Windows. The biggest 2 things on my desk are the wireless printer (hardly ever used but necessary all the same), and my power backup. My computer is on 24/7. I live in a hot and humid country. So I also have 2 desktop fans, which take it in turns to cool the NUC (to preserve/elongate it's life). Same 26" Samsung Monitor. I often yearn for the simpler life with openSUSE linux. Life was so much simpler, then. No decisions needed between 20 or more AV programs, running from the inexpensive, to the extortionate, yearly. With all sorts of additions thrown into the mix. This is just 1 example.

Laptop. Been on different laptops since mid-late 90's and I don;t see that change anytime soon. Could never get that feel on a smart phone, even though I send emails occasionally from my Android phone.

IPad Pro since I got my first one. Barely ever get on a computer anymore.

No at a minimum a laptop (MacBook Pro) is needed for any serious internet or computer work. I also have a dual screen iMac Pro which is even more preferable.

Interestingly when on the go I just use an iPhone X (versus an iPad) but it’s definitely not as easy to use for say, research of domain prices with follow up of postings on a for sale forum or with emails to a potential buyer, as the laptop or desktop.

I think if you’re on the go using the most handheld device (smart phone) is what’s called for. If you’re stationary why go halfway to a tablet (iPad) why not all the way to using a laptop or desktop.

The main advantage to laptop / desktop is ability to open multiple windows simultaneously and refer or copy/paste between them. You don’t get that with a phone or tablet - one just has a larger screen but both are equally limited in the multi department. I see no point in the tablet at all for on the go serious work.

Uhm you can open multiple windows and cut and paste and split screen just fine on an iPad Pro.

I have two iPad pros including the latest one it’s still not the same as a MacBook Pro by any means.

like others, i use mainly a pc, but when i go to bed, it's the tablet for domaining.

Not sure how u can do the majority of the work on a tablet or phone... i mean, the typing alone is just bs. u need to tab between lists and honestly it takes 4x longer to make lists.

The only great thing about tablets and domaining = looking through lists / reading news. But that's it.

I spent more time looking for a case, almost 4 hours, than the iPad itself.

Both coming today.

Case, over 2000 reviews, 4.9 out of 5, watched a couple of videos that sealed the deal - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075NVZ2QM/

This video sealed it:

Another thing about typing (it’s more like pecking) on a phone or tablet is that over time with heavy use you’ll pay - with orthopedic issues with your finger. Not necessarily permanent injury but trust me you’ll feel it.

I honestly thought typing on a keyboard did more injury than the light fingertaps on a screen...

If you’re typing properly - using all fingers wrists raised, into a good keyboard that requires only a soft touch, absolutely not - versus repeatedly punching the same finger over and over into a hard screen.

I generally use my laptop and phone. I use my laptop for the more tedious tasks and my phone for stuff like checking email and bidding on auctions.

I think that is great. As we get older, we need to take care about things like posture, etc...while young, I was able to sit hours and hours in front of computer....not any more, it is not healthy ...so devices like tables are very useful imo :)

My HP laptop died in February. Been trying to do everything on my phone for about a month.

Ended up buying a Samsung tablet at Costco in Calgary yesterday. Using it now from a truck stop in Brandon MB. Checking emails, hoing through the TBR, posting on Namepros. Started a Shopify store with it last night. I'm impressed. Might not need a desktop anymore.

Self assembled desktop with AMD processor, 2 HDD 0.5 TB(one for primary & other secondary fixed for backup, spins when needed) & Samsung 19" square monitor with APC power backup + HP tab 7 for reading. I have Partitioned the live (primary) HDD into 6 OS/Projects/Resources/Songs/Fmlypics/Games&vids). I keep formatting the OS partition monthly once, re-install windows, download & install Norton AV 30 day internet security(the whole process takes only 30 minutes but saves from tons of malware, viruses & improves speed for rest of the whole month) & take project / resources backup to secondary disk.

I hate "laptops" like that. The thing weighs 20 pounds and has two massive power bricks, is difficult to carry and needs 2 power outlets. Parts are hard to get and simple things like cleaning the fans is a pain because it has 5 of them and not all are easy to get to. Its a massive heat pump and people end up blocking the air flow, because it takes up so much space, and it cooks itself.

Dell used to make this monster:

It is a 21" laptop as well. I used to repair these all the time. It pumped out so much heat it would cook itself to death after 18 months or so. People would bring them into my shop and as soon as they walked in I would say "It just shutdown and wont turn on anymore, right ?". I was right 100% of the time.

1. a tablet but also a laptop if you want it to be = Microsoft Surface Go

2. a smartphone but also a -massive- camera and an actual phone, call management and recording and all, if you want it to be = Google Pixel 3 XL

But to tell you the truth, nothing beats having your own desk with a dual screen desktop. You won't spend 5+ hrs working unless it is on this kind of setup. Plus a little fridge, I will get this setup soon since I now have a spare room in my house for this kind of thing. Yay!

You don't look old enough to be guzzling beer from the fridge :)
