Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The creative will receive compensation as per the following schedule:

  • Once the domain has been fully paid off, the creative will receive their commission as soon as the domain ownership is transferred to the buyer.
  • If the installment plan is cancelled for any reason, Squadhelp will pay the creative as per the approved commission rate (based upon the amount collected so far). For example, a customer purchases a domain (listed for sale for $1600) in 4 monthly installments ($400 per month). If the customer only pays the first two installments, Squadhelp would have collected $800 from the customer. If the creative commission in this case is 30% of the selling price, the creative will receive $240 into their account if the domain purchase is cancelled at this stage. The domain will be listed back on sale on Squadhelp marketplace at this stage.
  • In case of any chargebacks or refunds, the creative will not be eligible for any compensation for the refunded portion of the payment.
Yup, this is not good.

My apologies. You are correct, the seller will not get their full commission until the installment plan is completed. Squadhelp is testing a feature where the creative receives their commission in partial payments through the installment period, which is the situation with my domain. This feature may not be available yet on all domains sold this way, Grant would be able to say for certain. Sorry again if my comment was out of turn.

&..... I just canceled the installment option.

What kind of system is this, installments should be beneficial to all parties. Easy & affordable for the buyer, & cash flow for the DN owner/seller.

Wasn't even aware of it. disappointing.

Hope this changes soon.

There are some serious issues with the site @GrantP please do fix them.
@kamcreation , thanks for sharing this feedback. We have been rapidly making updates to our platform, and one of the focus areas for us has been improving the listing process for the domains. In fact, within the last 24 hours, we have made several updates which includes a bit more simplified submission form and CSV upload process. You can now edit the Capitalization of your names directly from your listings page by clicking on the domain name. You can also upload the names again (if you had previously removed them).
We will continue to make ongoing updates to our platform to offer a best in class experience for everyone.

Heard if your name is sold on instalment, seller don't get paid until after all installments is paid. For instance, if the your instalments is spread for 6 months, sellers won't get paid until after 6 months. @GrantP should please comment on this.

@Haykay2005, when we originally launched the installment option, we handled the full payout after the final payment of domain names. This is because we wanted to work out all the kinks in the collection process of installments.

As of January this year, all installment payments are paid monthly to sellers within 5-7 days of receiving them from the customer (as announced in this forum post: (https://squadhelp.com/t/faster-marketplace-installment-payouts-for-creatives/3510). It looks like the article you referred to wasn't updated at that time - we have now updated the article to reflect our current payout process. Sorry about any confusion.

@GrantP are there any plans for a SH customized seller widget, that we can use on our own sites?

Thanks

Because we have somebody from squadhelp here on site, maybe we can find out more stuff regarding the marketplace. For example, maybe we can have some stats about what's the average of like/love/shortlists to make a sale. Also, I'm wondering if we can find out by whom was shortlisted a domain(which contest holder, what they are looking for). For now, we can find out who has shortlisted our name if we have submitted that certain domain to a contest and it was shortlisted. Right now, I have 10 shortlists that were not submitted to contests, but they were shortlisted and we can't know by whom and what they are looking for. I wonder usually how many shortlist one buyer has to make a sale, 2-3 or 20-30? Also, there is a way to know if the views are real users or bots? Also, there is something odd with basic plus listings: if I'm not wrong, they are not available on the marketplace, just if you submit them to a certain contest, but I have basic plus listings with tens of views a day, without submitting them to contests, so from where they could come, if the listings are not live at the premium marketplace?

I wonder if the guys who had sales at squadhelp could help us out with some stats, like how many like/love/shortlists they had to make one sale?

I have instances when I want to submit a name listed by me in a contest, only to be told I can't submit it because another person has already submitted it.

I hope it's normal, believing if it wins the person get the award and the owner gets the sales commission?

This is a great idea. We will add this to our product roadmap for development. There are several other features that are currently in the queue - so this may take some time to build.

Let me clarify a few things that might clear up some confusion about views, likes and Basic/ Basic Plus listings.

The most common way for prospective buyers to discover your names is by visiting the Premium Domain section of our marketplace. However there are many other ways in which the names can be discovered:

a) Submission to contests
b) Automatic AI based recommendations to buyers and contest holder as they show interest in certain names.
c) Visual Name Search widget (https://www.squadhelp.com/smart-business-name-generator) that allows buyers to find relevant names based upon their preferences
d) Creative Owned Domains For Sale (https://www.squadhelp.com/premium-domains-for-sale?bl=1). This section showcases all Basic and Basic Plus listings that are live in our Marketplace. Buyers can access this link from the footer of our website.
e) Extensive level of retargeting via various channels (such as Google, Facebook, Partner networks) that shows relevant names to buyers, based upon their interest.

Every time, a visitor views your name, it results in an increase in your views. We have technology in place to detect and ignore bot related views. However it is still possible that some bot views are not detected and they could be included in the View count.

A buyer can shortlist your names from several sections of our website. This results in an increase in your number of shortlists. There is no direct correlation between number of shortlists and sales. We have several names with 100+ shortlists, which still haven't sold. On the other hand, several names have sold without any shortlists. While this metric can not be used to predict sales, it is usually a good indicator for you to know the level of interest in your name. You can also use this data point to decide which names to renew or drop at the end of the year. If a name has accumulated many shortlists over a short period of time, it is usually a good indicator that it is worth renewing (and it will eventually sell).

The number of shortlists can also be used as a sales tool. Over the next few days, we will be adding a new feature where every time you add a discount, it will notify all recent prospective buyers who had expressed an interest (i.e. shortlisted your name).

I think this new feature will be great. Kudos for blazing the trail

Average approval rate is 8%... /% of submissions that were accepted as Premium listings./
I think it's very hard to list a Premium domain there.
Yesterday, I submitted 12 domains /previously accepted in Namerific/ and all were rejected from SquadHelp.

I've been listing everything as Basic Plus. Got 450 views on one domain in 5 days, so I am happy its getting more views than BB or BP.

Yeah there are many views on my Basic plus domains. 3000 views, for 30 domains in 3 days. I don't know if they are from interested buyers or they are generated from other domainers/bots.

You are right.
I contacted them via email yesterday and they said they would check. I think it is updating now, but nobody told me any reason why it stopped.

Just got this:

Hi James,

Thank you for your patience. We just heard from the team. accordingly, we recently updated the domain landing pages to a new design and there was a glitch which temporarily stopped counting the views. This has been corrected now.

Is there any way to bulk upload domain in basic plus listings ?
one more qn
Has anyone sold their domain through basic or basic plus listing ?

I just got the pre-approved message for a domain. I had it listed for $1399 when it was "basic plus", so they approved it for premium at that price.

Now I dont know if I should have raised it a bit higher before submitting to premium, because I thought they might offer pricing guidance if approved.

If I accept the approval at $1399, is that price locked in or do they offer a guidance for a price range like some other brandable sites do ?

Its not the end of the world if I sell it at this price, but it would be nice to know about post-approval pricing from anyone who has gone through it before.

Thanks.

Usually you can raise the price a few hundreds after you accept the commission rule. Most times you can still raise it more when it finally goes live. (my experience though).

Anybody do any sales and get paid via Payoneer ? I have a PN account that I have not really used and just realized that SH will allow for paypal AND payoneer. So I added PN as an extra payment option.

Any issues to watch out for with that one ?
