How would you invest $10,000 in domain industry?
Choose from the options and share why have you chosen that way.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I would go for 2000 names of $5 each, a mix of geo, brandables and exact match names.

Well, I cannot specify a number. As well as the exact categories, It depends on the supply and prices.

If a short term, Anything that i believe it would lead to $50k+, Will try to get the max of good one word .ios for 4k, Some quality EMDs .nets and .orgs for 1k, A few 4l prononceable .coms and a good number of two word .coms for 5k.

If a long term, I probably will go with a good pack of keyword and brandable .coms and just anything else that is premium and at the right price.

However, I assume i would take months to spend that $10k, From my short ride on this industry and the mistakes i made, I learnt to not be in a hurry to spend, and most importantly to not be stupid on the spend.

I would snap drops. About 100 - 200 names in total.

- .com
- .org
- new gTLDs

I would pay consultancy fees of 4k for the dream team made from namepro members
and spend the remaining 6 on a portfolio under advisement.

Buy 50 good .ws, one word only.

If would do exactly what I already did with $10k - I would build my new gTLD domain name portfolio once again :)

That is not a bad idea really. I think many newer people would end up with a far better, streamlined portfolio if they did something like that.

I personally think the best model is to buy as many quality domains, mainly .COM, in the Low $XXX - Low $X,XXX range. However, if you don't know what you are doing it will just be a waste of money.

Just as hand registering bad domains is a waste of money when you factor in renewals.

So the most important thing is to have the knowledge and experience to know what works.
No business model is going to work without it.

100/100 , but I would really do my homework before each buy.

500 * $20
Then if you can sell at the domainer sell-through rate of 1%, you sell 5 of them. For $2,500 each, the standard domainer price. Leaving you with maybe 1,000 dollars profits after fees.

Buy 5 to 10 dot com domains at a domain auction site like NameJet or GoDaddy where there are more than 5 active bidders.

I would buy 5-6 quality one word .ca's.

I would pay my bills for say 3 months and do nothing except learn about general human psychology, honing down on human learning and human senses (oral, aural, and sight), then look to use the knowledge gained to apply it with my general knowledge of human behaviour to invest in domains, always looking to think 'outside the box' so as to hopefully hand-reg or buy relevant domains cheaply on the aftermarket.

How would you invest $10k in domain industry?
🚩

Regardless if I have already $10k or not and regardless if I personly can contact some of the richest people on earth or not, I decided to reply to this thread because I like the questionnn

So, suppose I do not own $10k (maybe I own it, maybe not), and suppose I personly can not contact some of the richest people on earth (maybe I can, maybe not) I probably would invest it in hiring a person that can personly contact some of the richest people on earthhh

Especially high-end - art collectorsss

To let inform them about the (currently my) domain name

toptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptop.top
and the possibility where they can try to buy ittt

Because I believe they will try to buy ittt

DISCLAIMER

This is my reply to your question and whoever has a problem (?) with it (I am sure you (Arpit131) have no problem with it) should stop with domaining and should really go out into natureee

The problem with the 2000 domains is the renewal fees in one year.

I think 4-5 domains only....

I would spend the 10k renewing the best names I already own and leaving the questionable names for a decision closer to expiry.

is it worth the time and trouble managing 500 domains to make only $1000 profit in 1 year?!

sometimes less is more, think about it in terms of quantity vs quality, which is better?

OK
If I buy 100 for $100 each, how much will I sell? ONE? Maybe can sell one for $5,000??
- $10,000 + $5,000
Then the next year renew 99 for $9*99 and buy another for $100
- $5,000 - $991
- $5,991
Then sell how many, one for $5,000 again?
- $5,991 + $5,000
- $991
B-)

I think buying decent .COM for low $XXX and pricing them at mid $X,XXX is a good business model.

With any of these models though it does often take time to turn the corner.
The math (1% turnover) works out a lot better if you don't just stop at year 2.

After year 2 you are essentially just paying say $1K for (100) renewals and making (1) $5K sale.
That starts to become very profitable quickly. If the sales rate is higher than 1% that it is even more profitable.

This is easier said than done though in the market today. Most decent ones with resale potential are going for much higher at popular venues.
