NameCheap No Longer Allowing Expedited Transfers

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
NameCheap always allowed expedited transfers away in the past but it seems they have recently removed this option so registrants will now have to wait the full six days for automatic approval of outbound transfers. Here is the support chat regarding this:

17:26 Rep: Regarding a fast release option, unfortunately, this feature is temporarily unavailable.
17:26 Rep: According to the ICANN transfer policy, transfers are automatically approved in 5-7 calendar days after transfer initiation.
17:26 Rep: Your understanding is highly appreciated.
17:26 Me: Is it due to be reinstated anytime soon?
17:27 Rep: I'm afraid I don't have any details to share regarding this.
17:28 Me: OK. Thank you for your assistance. This is definitely a negative for me as my buyers don't like having to wait the maximum time for transfers when needing to switch registrars.
17:29 Rep: I am sorry for the inconveniences it has caused you
17:29 Me: But thank you for the clarification on your policy.

I've always been very happy with NameCheap but this is something to bear in mind if using them.

Cool. Time to move my names away from namecheap

'...It's temporary but I can't share any details whether it's temporary or not.' :xf.rolleyes:

I believe you got the support in a bad day.. maybe contact someone in the tech support (different department) or just re-initiate chat with them, chances are you'll get another person to chat with and maybe they'll know for sure.

Sometime in the past I had to talk with two different people in the normal chat and one from their tech department via email.. and that was due to my persistence. The issue got solved by that last tech person.

I did it a few years ago, when they switched their ugly user interface to something even more terrible.

Although i must admit their support is top notch, and their pricing is still okay. However if i can't work with my domains an any logical way, it means i won't use them. Only GD interface is worse.

Unfortunately I don't believe this was just a Support rep. on a bad day... I had exactly the same discussion with Namecheap's generally excellent live help two days ago, when a transfer acknowledgement form included just a link to contact Support (not the usual link to expedite the transfer). I asked if he could expedite the transfer manually and was told that this would also not be possible.. I asked him to please pass on my great concern about this....

I don't see any changes...
Today have transferred-out .PRO within minutes... as it was always before.

p.s. Click "Cancel" link in their email...
Then you have 2 options: Approve/Reject.

Thanks. I was just able to approve two .com transfers. The email looks the same but the link does now give the option to expedite the transfer whereas previously it just went to NameCheap.com website with no option to approve.

namecheap going down the drain

their prices stink.. and instead of improving their site.. they go the other way by removing useful options.. without notification.. without explanation...

they rarely get my money these days.

It just worked for me though. The 'If you WISH TO CANCEL the transfer, please go to our website' link in the email gave the ability to approve/reject the transfer (see image).

thats odd

I'll try it next time.

last time I clicked this by accident was few motnhs ago.. when the expediate link was present there too...

so maybe now they just moved it all to cancel link

which again without notifcation or explanation, is just confusing and chaotic at best.

thanks.

Looks that at Namecheap it depends on TLD as well...
I have initiated .me transfer-out... It is pending according to WHOIS status - but no any expedition emails...

well... I think I will just wait out the 5 days.

last time I clicked CANCEL link by error few motnhs ago (when expediate link was there still too).. it cancelled transfer right away.. no further confirmation... and it created mess for me.
so now I am afraid to do test clicking on cancel link to see if it offers expediate option.

"Cancel" - it is just text in their email...
Actually it redirects to their FOA page with Approve/Reject buttons...
But as I see - this doesn't work for all TLDs at Namecheap.

cancel is a link.
when I last clickd it it took me to page which said... your transfer is now cancelled.
without confirmations.
this messed things up.
so I prefer not to test now.

but I basically just need this for .io... co.. info... com

have you confirmed any of those to work expediate if I click CANCEL?

Almost all my transfer-outs from NC are .PRO and never had any issues...
And also I can't recall any issues with .com/.info
Regarding .co/.io - I can't say anything, I don't invest in these TLDs.

ok thanks.
its so dumb and weird that they remove exxpediate link.
and leave cancel link only. which no one expects to be able to click on to ezpediate from there
and on top of it.. when people do click cancel link, it works randomly on some tlds but not others.

bravo namecheap! not!

They not removed it... URL is the same as it was always...
They just improperly stated the hyperlink TEXT in their emails...
Bad template - in other words.

i am not sure what you are talking about.. for me the usual accept/refuse link is no longer in the emails I get from them... and now I just get this below... besides, it was confrimed by othrs here and by me also when I emailed support, that they said themselves that they removed the expediate link... this is a big difference now.. because before the expediate link always worked on all tlds.. and now apparently the other link, only works for some tlds...

so all I get is this here and no link to expediate like before:

Click "website"... it redirects to their FOA (Form of Authorization) page...
At least for legacy gTLDs...

Yes, it doesn't work for .me at all...
Over 1 day elapsed - they didn't send any emails.

HEY GUYS BE CAREFUL IF U R TRYING TO GET AUTH CODE AND U HAVE WHOIS PRIVACY AT NAMECHEAP.

(didn't want to start my own thread and clog up forums)

but this is rly important. One of my domains that I wanted to xfer out has whois privacy still... so I tried to request auth code. Didn't arrive for days. wondered why

I try again today and i see that it's being emailed to "[email protected]"

^ and that's why you can't get your auth code if you hve whois privaCY TEHRE..

No biggie. It's mentioned clearly in their transfer process instructions.

The only thing that bothers me is that your data will be exposed when you transfer.
