How to Sell Outbound + Domain Transaction Process?

Hello Domainers,

I recently invested in my first domain; one of the strategies I want to try is outbound selling (calling and e-mailing specific people and companies). I bought my domain name through GoDaddy, and was wondering what is the process of selling the domain to another person who might not have a GoDaddy account?

Do I have to put my domain name on auction first, and then tell the person that it is on GoDaddy Auctions? Is there another way to transfer/sell directly to the person? If so, what is the process?

Do you guys have resources that can help me better understand this transaction process (both within and outside of GoDaddy)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

@rcdomaininvestor

Short version: I finalize transactions via Epik's Escrow, that is transfer the domain in question to Epik and then start an Escrow transaction. Fast (usually same day) and cheap (zero to 5% depending on buyer's payment method). As an NP member you can withdraw your proceeds to Paypal free of charge.

Plus you have the option to sell the domain in one go or offer the buyer an installment payment plan.

When ready, make sure you tag @Rob Monster beforehand to get your new Epik account all sorted out as an NP member's account.

Good luck with your sales! :xf.smile:

Hi

if you have a quality domain, people might come looking for you.
which could give you leverage in negotiations and perhaps reap higher profit margin

if you have low quality domain, no matter how many spam emails you send... it won't sell

so, before you start thinking about how to send solicitations, perhaps think about the quality and usefulness of your names.

imo...

Judging from your profile, you speak from long experience, I presume? If so, you must have really, really bad quality domains on offer! :xf.wink:

I make it no secret that I'm in this for the long run, developing websites, rather than domain flipping. Which is not to say I have no outbound experience. The reality is that sex... er, outbound, sells! Proactive will beat passive every day! Assuming you have half a working brain left to use a little common sense and match your offers with your targets, outbound selling is more about pricing and negotiation skills, than anything else. Most deals fall through due to pricing incompatibility and not lack of interest on the part of the targets.

Sure enough, doing outbound, you're walking a fine line, skirting spamming. Not an issue if you keep this clearly in mind and exercise a semblance of common sense, I spoke of, so as not to antagonize potential buyers and get your email service suspended. And outbound doesn't have to be limited to email. Phones work. Skype works. Post Office still works. Heck, many potential buyers still have their fax machines turned on. And although I haven't tried this myself (yet), others report that LinkedIn works, too! :xf.grin:

Great point here! It is true, very important to be aggressive and what better way than to do outbound on your domains. At first I was disappointed when not getting any responses but I just kept on doing outbound. When it comes down to it outbound is a numbers game.

At the same time you have to be strategic and go after the right prospect and make sure to get your email in front of the decision makers. This will give you best results.

With that said though, nothing beats getting a nice offer for a domain you own or better yet a notification -> Your domain has be sold! =-D

Also search the NP archives. This has been discussed over and over again for many years.

Like any other way to make money (except a government job); the most aggressive bird usually gets the most worms.

Outbound domains transaction process is typically done via email, phone to a targeted group of companies.
