1 registered a domain 1 year ago and auto renew off.
(Domain expired date 17 March 2019.)
16 March domain transfer process other registrar but today 1&1 domain auto renew without my permission.
Be aware theft registrar's.

happened me too
they'll refund you no problem
but be real careful to check every single total on your monthly invoices!

for me it was easy to prove.. cause the domain they charged me renewal for not only did not have autorenew on.. but also was sitting there expired and not renewed.. after the charge!

not cool.

I have X,XXX domains there...
And had the only one such case this year.

yes it is true they will refund.

I guess op is raising the question whether they do this on purpose or not.

I guess we will never know.

they had a real nice page for disabling auto renew off in bulk almost... now doing it 1 by one is long.. the old page stopped working few moths ago... I asked why.. they don't know.. strangely enough when I aksed the guy on fone if its possible they disabled it on purpose so more people leave autorenew on.. he didn't even say NO.. he basically said what I said.. who knows :)

Enabled and then disabled Autorenewal for 2 domains...
No problems, works for me.

thats really odd.
cause I called them and they checked with me on fone and it didn't work either
plus told me its a known bug they're trying to fix

do you have anything other than domains there? like emails... hosting or other stuff? me its domains only.

They also have Basic POP3/Webmail plan for free... and I used it... were no problems.

Probably, some bug which doesn't affect all customers...
That's why it works on my side.
