Does domain age effects my domain name price ? Does it depend on how old is the domain is ?

Aged names don't need to build up authority like one registered yesterday for example would in age and since the better keywords were regged long ago 9 times out of 10.

Top high auctions @ godaddy ages

22666.com - 17 years
Infobright.com - 16 Years
Powa.com - 15 years
887666.com - 6 Years
85A.com - 15 Years
368222.com - 6 Years
Hydron.com - 23 Years
Seeus.com - 21 Years

First page lowest age was around 5 years highest around 23.

While at first glance the above list seems compelling, if you also look at the domains that recently sold for $1 they also, in many cases, have a significant age. I have long expected this was true, but invested a bit of time to try it out with some domains that sold for $1 during the past couple of weeks. I use // to hide them from search for benefit of new owners who got a great bargain.

For example The//Shoe//Bin (com) sold for $1. It is not a clearly poor name, and it has been on 9 different IP addresses over15 years of 'life' before recently expiring and selling again for $1. Or Collectors//Target (com) also sold recently for $1. It had been on 31 different IP addresses over 14 years. Or Vox//Tablet (com) also sold ffor $1 - it has been on 6 IP addresses over 10 years. Or End//Software (com) a rather nice name that sold end of January, for $1! It has seen 30 IP addresses over 15 years of registered life. I did find one that had apparently only been registered the single year [Saved//Resources (com)] - of the ones I checked it was the only one.

I did not do an extensive survey, but most I checked while now listed as new since expired had been alive for 8 to 16 years, and yet still sold for less than $2 this time (I excluded any that were obviously dated like old technology).

I doubt I will take the time to do a statistically meaningful study but I am pretty sure that it would show that age alone is a terrible predictor of prices. Any other single item (like looking only at say CPC or search stats or GoValue valuation) would also be a poor predictor. To meaningfully decide which names have better prospects you need to look at multiple elements.

I think can matter, if it factors into a condition to what the buyer is seeking.

Always important to consider all potential selling points of a domains features, when determining its price.

But in general, most rational-minded people (unlike myself) look at age as just a number, which does not necessarily translate to quality.

Haven't seen one of these beauties for a while, an expired on GD pre-1990. Ended up getting renewed by owner:

This question has been asked a million times, hard to believe doesagematter.com isn't registered. Yes Virginia, there is a the only time metric guaranteed to add value is time until expiration, for dot com that's worth ~ $10/yr.

Hey I am trying to sell abc129jv.com, I have had it since 1999. I outbounded it, but they marked me as spam. Some even told others to block my email!!!!!

BUT AGE MATTERS RIGHT!?!??!!?

Not with a name like that, it doesn't.
