I would like to suggest a new feature please.

For Contests, Games, and Topics with a very specific set of instructions.

I would love to see a section on namepros where the owner of the topic is able to delete other peoples posts.

This would come in very handy for contests or topics with specific instructions like this one
https://www.namepros.com/threads/100k-domain-name-list.1117284/

So instead of bothering the mods the owner of the topic could delete the posts of anyone not following the posting rules.

Understand that I am asking about a very specific area of the forum, so someone could open up a game post and anyone spamming with more replies than allowed or not following the rules would get deleted by the OP.

I have actually had members PM me about people spamming my topic saying it was a great topic but a few people are chronically spamming and ignoring the rules.

Personally I don't want to bother the mods everytime so this feature would be great to have in a specified forum where the OP has moderator type of authority.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Such a feature is not possible within Xenforo without allowing regular members essentially Moderator powers or at least Mod powers within certain channels (sub forums). It’s not feasible I wouldn’t grant it in any of my forums.

There’s also no way within forum software to grant such power only to the OP.

This is an interesting idea, but it's a delicate one because many members would still think that we were the ones deleting their posts even if we made it clear that it was the thread creator. That could lead to a lot of additional support requests for us and misunderstandings.

@xynames is correct that there isn't an out-of-the-box option to grant only that capability to the thread creator.

That said, we are trying to think of ways to turn over more of the moderation to the community.

Another option would be for the ability to hide irrelevant posts.

I mean if you look at the topic I mentioned in my link at the top the quality of the 100K + domains is questionable and it looks like a couple of people think their entire catalogue is in that value range.

xynames it is possible to write custom scripts and hiding posts would probably be the best option. So whoever posts crap has the post hidden by the OP and members can still see the post but they have to click it to expand it. The hide button would simply collapse the irrelevant posts so they would not crowd out the topic.

That just came into my head and it would be a happy medium.

@Support Team - what do you think?

I’ve seen a lot of mods for vbulletin and xenforo and written one myself but have never seen or heard of any demand for what you describe. It’s not an ability I would ever give anyone at any of my forums who is not a known to me designated Mod.

If this is something that has any practical use I’m sure you will find the mod already available. I’d suggest looking at all xenforo mods I’m less familiar with xenforo than vbulletin.

Imagine this being used in appraisal and new tlds threads. All the dissenting posts gone! @Bob Hawkes

Not gone just collapsed.

I revised my idea to collapse the offending posts instead of deleting them.
So in essence they could still be clicked to expand and read them but if the topic owner thought they were spam or not on topic they could be collapsed.

Also keep in mind it would only be in one section where there are contests or very specific instructions for posting in the topic.
