Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

*** SPOTLIGHT ***

129515_0a5ea8bdfc27ffd16ae353d50204369b.png

The "Spotlight" program appear to be popular. Glad everyone is enjoying them.

While reviewing the current Contest Summary by "Likes" Report earlier this week, I noticed a few Participants had more than one Entry in the Top 50 ranking. It appears they have an eye for finding solid Hand Regs and the audience is posting "Likes" to those Entries. Congrats!

This got me thinking that I should start a "Spotlight" program in this thread, so we could learn a little bit about their domaining journey and ask them to share a few insights with us..

This will be our 4th Spotlight post and our guest this afternoon is: @Joe Nichols

I think you will like the "Spotlight" program this month as each individual shares a bit about their domaining background, the sites & tools they use, the current industry sectors they see as promising, along with a little advise for those new to the business.

It's a mini-interview series of 4-5 direct questions and I hope you enjoy this piece. (see below).

-Cougar

----------------------------------------------

Q & A with @Joe Nichols

1) What year did you register your 1st domain? How long have you been an active domainer?

I purchased my first domain name in January 2016 and have been actively investing and selling since then. For the record, it took me 8 months to make my first noteworthy sale ($699 for a .net name purchased as a GD closeout).

2) What is your preferred Registrar for Hand Registering domains?

Currently I prefer using GoDaddy. As a member of the domain buyers' club, the price is reasonable. Since it's the world's most recognized registrar, end users are often familiar with it, which provides some added credibility and comfort to buyers when I'm performing outbound marketing.

3) What are your preferred Topics / Industry Sectors that see as promising?

I don't invest heavily in future tech names. Naturally AI, Blockchain, Crypto, and Cannabis are all wonderful investment avenues, but unfortunately I missed those boats by many years (at least in terms of registering names of value).

I do own a small portfolio capitalizing on the hope that the "BIOT" acronym takes off as a common reference to the intersection of IOT and Blockchain technology. And I have another small group of names centered around T-cell receptor cancer therapy treatment.

I really like buying exact match names for existing products and services. They're still in demand, and if you find the right names then you'll almost always get at least some modest interest when reaching out to potential buyers.

4) What sales channel(s), platform(s), or sales landing page site(s) do you use?

I do some outbound marketing on suitable names, focusing on targeted leads that I find via Google search, Crunchbase, LinkedIn, etc.

All my names currently point to landers at Undeveloped.com. I previously used Efty, which is also very good. I also list my names at Afternic and Sedo.

5) Any suggestions for someone new to domaining?

Just soak in all the knowledge you can. Don't be afraid to be really active in your efforts to connect with others in the industry, and to find creative ways to buy good names at good prices. It's taken me a long time to get comfortable with being more active in these regards, and I'm still working at it.

Buy slowly and responsibly until you find your comfort zone, and at all times remember that you're not just selling domains; you're selling yourself. Your reputation is important and it comes through in how you treat buyers, sellers, other domainers, and in how you present yourself professionally.

Great dot com for the cannabis/marijuana niche or for an eco/environmental brand.

Popular This Month

FYI...

I just noticed that our little contest is currently ranked 1st on the Popular This Month chart here on NamePros (over to the right of your screen above the Blog Favorites).

Congrats everyone and thank your for your contributions!

With more visibility and eyeballs on this contest, hopefully we will continue to see additional participation and also (and as important) more "Likes" voting for those terrific Entries.

Being ranked #1 this quickly is an impressive accomplishment by you - considering the contest has only been live and operation for 11 days.

Thank you all for your terrific Entries and contributions to the thread!

Funny, I thought submissions/posts died out.

Turns out I'm just no longer receiving notification of new posts to this thread even though I am "watching" it.

@EbookLover -

That's interest.

Thanks for the heads up. I hope it was a short-term glitch and not something more.

Thanks for your contributions to the thread.

-Cougar

ps: Suggestion - click on the "Alerts" menu at the top right and then the bottom selection "Show All". You might have other "Watched" threads that have not been updating for you. I hope the suggestion is helpful.

Well, see, now I got notification of you post. But I didn't get notification of the last probably 10 or more. Very strange.

Thanks for the update on the recent notification.

I try to post at least once or twice a day something new, so you should be receiving at least one notification a day that there has been more post/submissions to this thread.

Regards,

-Cougar
