I am not the owner, obviously, but thought I would throw in some historical data re short domain names. According the NameBio the least expensive ! + 2 char TLD sale is p.de that sold for $174 back in 2008. The most expensive, o.co that sold for $350,000 in 2010. That is quite the price range!

Thanks 4 that interesting information.

The purchase of p.de for only $174 (?) was an absolutely awesome deal for the buyerrr
Of course the deal of o.co for $350,000 (!) was not less awesome - but for the sellerrr

Indeed a very broad price difference / range.

No it was a resell. Information in NameBio. It seemed like a steal to me!
A resell of a 1-char from Germany 😯 At this price? Seems somebody made a typo and missed two zeros - even for 2008 😅

Actually I would believe something like that ...
... but it is hard to imagine that none of the people involved did not discovered it (the typo, if it is one) since 2008 until today and ordered a correction to Namebio.

So probably it is indeed the lowest (reported) sale of a 1 character domain.

The point is, that I (or we, as I assume) do not know the background / circumstances of the sale, maybe it was not intended and something like a pricing / timing - accident by the seller - in this case I can only feel sorry for him.

But if this was not the case and if he really was intended to sell it for that or theoretically an even lower amount by taking the risk to offer it through an auction w/o a reserve price (that's what I think was the case), then, regardless the fact that he made a loss (at least from the economial angle, also if he registered it for $1,00), of course still my congrat's to his sale (because he obviously reached his goal to sell it, no matter which price), although its a while agooo

ꓧ.com

SUPER RARE, ULTIMATE, ULTRA PREMIUM 1 letter IDN .com - domain

ꓧ.com = xn--rm8a.com
IDN = punycode domain name

ꓧ = xn--rm8a
IDN character = punycode

H (h) = H (h)
keyboard character(s) = keyboard character(s)

ꓧ ≠ H (h)
IDN character ≠ keyboard character(s)

This sale is definitely incorrect and never happend.
1 and 2-letter .de domains were only released in October 2009.

I am tagging @Michael as it is definitely in the NameBio database from 2008. I have put link here
https://namebio.com/p.de

But I am not sure your information is correct as there are multiple 1 and 2 character .de sales starting in 2007. Please provide a link for your information on release date @xyo

Sorry, couldn't post links before.

Only got a source in german, but dates should be recognizable:
https://domain-recht.de/domain-rech...-die-folgen-fuer-die-praxis-update-11754.html

Here's also a link to the list of all 1/2-letter domains registered on October 23rd, 2009 : http://no_url_shorteners/d/q3

It was a big thing back then in Germany, because DENIC didn't release the 1 and 2-char domains voluntarily, but they were forced by a court ruling.

So without any doubt there can't have been any valid sale of a 1 or 2 character .DE domain before October 23rd, 2009

He's absolutely right, I found a press release on DENIC in English saying the same thing:
https://www.denic.de/en/whats-new/press-releases/article/denic-eg-eases-domain-guidelines-1/

As far as I can tell they were IDN domains that weren't converted correctly and got cut off at the first international character. So it was actually something like s[some special character]asdfasdfasdf.de getting recorded just as s.de (obviously a made up example).

I removed them from the database, thanks for the heads up @xyo and @Bob Hawkes

google translate

Against the background of the vw.de decision of the Frankfurt / M Higher Regional Court and a decision of the Federal Court of Justice, DENIC has decided to extend the domain guidelines for the Top Level Domain .de to include one- and two-digit domains as well as pure numerical domains can be registered. Furthermore, domains corresponding to a license plate number or a TLD are released for registration. This change will take effect from Friday, 23 October 2009 at 09.00 (CEST). The distribution of previously blocked domains is based exclusively on the "first come, first served" principle, so there will be no Sunrise Period for holders of trademark rights.

The shortest domain will be a single and 2 letters domain like aa, ab, ac, ad, cn, de, co, fm etc..
