I am not the owner, obviously, but thought I would throw in some historical data re short domain names. According the NameBio the least expensive ! + 2 char TLD sale is p.de that sold for $174 back in 2008. The most expensive, o.co that sold for $350,000 in 2010. That is quite the price range!

Of course the deal of o.co for $350,000 (!) was not less awesome - but for the sellerrr

Actually I would believe something like that ...
... but it is hard to imagine that none of the people involved did not discovered it (the typo, if it is one) since 2008 until today and ordered a correction to Namebio.

So probably it is indeed the lowest (reported) sale of a 1 character domain.

The point is, that I (or we, as I assume) do not know the background / circumstances of the sale, maybe it was not intended and something like a pricing / timing - accident by the seller - in this case I can only feel sorry for him.
But if this was not the case and if he really was intended to sell it for that or theoretically an even lower amount by taking the risk to offer it through an auction w/o a reserve price (that's what I think was the case), then, regardless the fact that he made a loss (at least from the economial angle, also if he registered it for $1,00), of course still my congrat's to his sale (because he obviously reached his goal to sell it, no matter which price), although its a while agooo

This sale is definitely incorrect and never happend.
1 and 2-letter .de domains were only released in October 2009.

It was a big thing back then in Germany, because DENIC didn't release the 1 and 2-char domains voluntarily, but they were forced by a court ruling.

So without any doubt there can't have been any valid sale of a 1 or 2 character .DE domain before October 23rd, 2009

Haha, funny how the registry released the domains at no special conditions but some greedy domain companies offered pre-order at 100.000 Euro. They surely had nice thriller trying to catch them 1-chars = business!

He's absolutely right, I found a press release on DENIC in English saying the same thing:

As far as I can tell they were IDN domains that weren't converted correctly and got cut off at the first international character. So it was actually something like s[some special character]asdfasdfasdf.de getting recorded just as s.de (obviously a made up example).
