I think you should modify your thread title to read:
Every fool can sell a domain name... at a loss!

While I agree with your policy (better to sell at a loss and recoup part of the investnent), your thread title is very misleading.

1. Go to ExpiredDomains and flter for dropping 5L .com's, try to catch (hand reg immediately after it drops) one or more that make any semblance of sense in terms of spelling and pronounciation...

2. Take advantage of NetSol's long running $1 promo to register the above...

3. Open an Auction thread here at NP and offer your catch on auction with a starting price of $1 and $1 increments... depending on the quality of your catch, you should be able to sell for anywhere between $1 (breakeven or B/E in business parlance) to low $ xx like $15... making 1400% profit on your very first sale!

4. Remember to jump about it at least twice a day for a week

Overall good advice however that NetSol thing is limited and probably closing up so that’s not a long term strategy for funding purchases. Person should expect to have to pay more because nothing lasts forever.

I also think this is not a great place to sell a name unless you are just trying to unload with zero or very minimal profit.

Gain or Loss should be calculated per whole portfolio.
Just 1 domain doesn't represent anything.

I was making light of selling domains as opposed to making a some real money (read: mid to high $xxx or more monthly) on domains

I also wanted to show newcomers to domaining, that making quick sales is not rocket science. Not that hard at all to have a little confidence builder in your first week domaining and make your first sale... and not at a loss at that!

There are .com promos almost every week, if not NetSol's $1, then Exabyte's $4.99 ($6.90 long running) or NetFirm's et all $5 (till March 13th). You are almost guaranteed to break even or even make a few $ profit auctioning off 5L .com brandables here at NP.

Not that this makes any commercial, business sense whatsoever. That is unless you have a lot of time on your hands, supported and living with your parents, and catch and auction off a couple or more good 5L .com's daily, resulting in $200 or more pocket money monthly.

I totally agree with you. Most people here seem to be missing that point

I like this a lot . Most people here don't want to help they just want to create noise and discourage to feel above the rest. Never listen to anyone and stick to whatever reasons that convinced you that your domain is good. Even if it takes 10 years to sell so what! You make your money regardless as long as you don't put all your eggs into one basket. Create your own strategies and rules. Thats how you get good at anything. I've been an active investor in Wall Street and with Digital assets and I can tell you first hand that if i had listened to everyone i would be broke. This includes those who claim to be experts. My biggest advice to you is everything you get from NamePros take it with a grain of salt. Most people here don't know what they are talking about and can come off like jerks. Only use NamePros when looking to find good deals for your next purchase. Thats what I do. I purchased BanquetHall.com a few weeks ago and many thought man that name sucks. Well I just got offered $7000 today for it and i only paid $1400 3 weeks ago. So yeah like I said don't listen to anyone. Listen to your gut and find good deals. Sales will come .

Big or small, It doesn't matter. Its your 1st sale. I remember I earn about $5 through clicking on emails & adds in 2005-2006. it took me couple of months to get that $5. Its my 1st US$ earning. Guess what? I lost it to a scammer trying to exchange it to my home currency. I lost hope. Buter never gave up

I have developped a lot since then. I read a lot on internet. NamePros helped me a lot to be in the domain industry and $5 is nothing to me now.

So I suggest you to read a lot. NamePros is a good place to learn. try hand registerding domain with coupons or cheap registrars. Try to make small profits 1st. Then build your portfolio gradually.

Congrats on your 1st Sale and keep it up.

On your first sale, whether profitable or not, it's what you learn that counts most. Learning something exceeds that sale itself. You're still a winner in the end.

Thanks for your encouraging words. My joy knew no bound when I discovered Namepros. I've wasted so much money advertising my domains on Godaddy. Let me know what you think about my affordable juicy versatile domains. Also, have you seen a $1Million domain name before? Check AIthrone com

When I read the first post I was expecting something like at least mid $xxx... which was rather odd, but reading down below, it was a loss after selling it. Well, nevertheless congrats, but I think this is going too far. I saw about 5 posts about this domain already with various suggestions made by NP members.
