Sorry, was gone a bit, was quite busy and closed a massive business deal for me.
I sold an online store and two domains for a re-launch (a .ca & a .com set).
I will retain a 10% equity in the newly formed company.

Biggest deal I ever did and it involved intense negotiation to close.

Our .CA To Be Released (TBR) Weekly Picks for March 6 are now online:

The overall numbers are down again this week but the quality of the TBR domain names remained about the same, with several premium domains making an appearance. Creating a Top Picks list wasn’t as difficult as last week and we managed to find five domains that qualified, including...

Its friggen easy. In like 15 minutes of time, I listed all of their .CA domains listed for sale, and then confirmed which were registered vs available.

14571 .CA's listed for sale.
9601 of them aren't registered.

So a whopping 66% aren't even registered - but are listed for sale at $2K minimum opening offer.

And since I keep records of almost every TBR since 2006, I can see that many of these domains expired a LONG time ago. I spot checked a few and I already see domains that last expired in 2010 that are still listed on this platform.

$1.00 registrations at HostPapa ends today.
$4.98 at Namespro.

FYI - in case no one noticed, CIRA appears to be posting results directly on the tbr.cira.ca page now. Its not super obvious if you're not looking for it, but it's there as a text link "View Results".

I emailed them about it 2 weeks ago. Hopefully others did as well. Domainers working together get things done.

Saw AppleButter.ca on the list. Had some mealy apples - made apple butter last night.

And now you have some mealy apple butter :xf.laugh:

Whenever I use the mealy term eating a bad apple people look at me like I am from another planet.
I'm glad someone else uses the term.

MealyApple.ca......... hmmm

or even the plural if you have a lot of mealy apples :ROFL:

I've got a direct line in there now, and I've been nicely pushing for a few things - hopefully the TBR Results feed works this week. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations on your sale @MapleDots

Was this your natural medicine business or something else or none of my business?

That is excellent. Were they .ca domains? How long did you have the business for?

Who knows what star will go for. It’s a myid auction so the possibilities are endless.

I sold a package deal .com and .ca matching. The site will continue as current but will be rebranded to new domain with the old one as a forwarder. The only reason this sale happened is I had a profit statement showing full return of investment within 5 years. The domains themselves were factored in at 25k for the .com and 10k for the .ca with a 5k discount if they took both.

10% off all profits come back to me for a seat on the board of the larger purchasing company.

But the question is whether the CIRA will allow it to be registered.

But the question is whether the CIRA will allow it to be registered.

Its a done deal - there was no conflict to begin with. It was previously registered as star.ca - not a 3rd level provincial.

I love playing “How much will in go for at Myid auction”. Any guesses on star? I will say $3800

I did get a live ad site at star.yk.ca (either than or NT) earlier in the week, but it must have been reallocated.

There had to be a reason there was no WHOIS data and it popped up with a "cannot register" error.

a) yt.ca is parked, and parking companies always wildcard any subdomains, so even dogpoop.yt.ca resolves.

b) if it didn't show in whois, the only thing I can think was that it was a temporary glitch of whois. If you're doing too many whois lookups too fast, whois will sometimes return nothing. But I know when I checked whois, star listed the usual info.
