Hello everyone!

I started learning about domaining just today and I joined this forum looking to learn a bit more. I also bought my first domain today (starting to think I rushed it) and I'm trying to figure out how much it's worth and what's the best way to sell it.

With that said, I'd appreciate if anyone could give me a few tips on getting started. I've been reading threads on this forum and I've already learned a bit.

Happy domaining!

Hello!

Reading threads that are specific to your domain name goals and aspirations is a great way to gain knowledge / insight into your particular goals.

And in those threads too are likely to be ongoing discussions of interest and persons possibly willing to answer specific questions you may have.

Welcome to NamePros!

Hello @Frankvs .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

I think you've already given yourself the best advice possible .. start slow and don't buy too much before getting a good grasp of the basics. Even then continue slowly. This section should be your best friend for the next couple of week:
https://www.namepros.com/forums/domain-beginners.25/

Then go explore domain sales and appraisals

You can have people check out your domain in the appraisals section here:
https://www.namepros.com/forums/networking-meet-and-greet.49/

If you do a lot of walking then I also highly recommend going back and listening to the last couple years worth of podcasts (@DomainSherpa and @DomainNameWire)

What got you interested in domains? Lucky for you that you found NamePros on your first day! :)

Best of luck to you going forward! :)

Well, actually I heard of domain flipping a few years ago, but never really decided to go for it. Today I was trying to come up with a few ways I could make some money and flipping came to my mind.

Also, where can I find said podcasts?

I'm not sure if we're allowed posting those links here .. but just google the two and you'll get them right away ... or .. as a future domainer you might want to get in the habit of adding .com to the end of everything! ;)

Got it, good tip :xf.grin:

Welcome!

You have a long, bumpy road ahead of you. But if you do your homework and learn the lessons, domaining will change your life! It's not only about the money. It's a whole different lifestyle. It's freeeeedom! :xf.grin:

Fair warning, though: domaining is incredibly addictive. Once you get the domaining bug, you'll find it's next to impossible to stop, to get out! :sneaky:

Welcome @Frankvs - nice to have you at NamePros.

In addition to the above tips, I'd add a couple of things. One of the most helpful learning tools for me has been buying domains (carefully), then listing them on different marketplaces, experimenting with pricing strategies, etc. You can learn all kinds of things from doing that. The other thing is to not expect instant wealth. Success in domain investing is about building a portfolio over time, so it's a good idea to keep your expectations in check.

Hope you enjoy your new venture!
