I want to correct a rumor that Emoji Domains in the Dot Com extension do not exist. They DO exist but are extremely rare. 33 (see list below) were approved and registered prior to ICANN emoji domain restrictions in 2011. These emoji dot com's are fully functional. One of them,
2601
.com , is currently being demoed by Ariana Grande. By copying and pasting, .com to any browser or by clicking via email, you will see that it hyperlinks to Ariana Grande's official site..........Thank u, Next! All 33 are fully functional and work on all devices. Now ya know!!!!

I come across Blogs like this one ( https://domaininvesting.com/target-using-logo-emoji-for-domain-name/ ) where the author, in this case, Elliot Silver, an Internet entrepreneur and publisher of DomainInvesting.com and founder and President of Top Notch Domains, LLC, LLC, He states "To my knowledge, there are no Emoji .com domain names. I recently sent him the correction. Also, i❤️.ws website that helps people register Emoji domain names, fails to mention that there are 33 registered Dot Com emojis that are fully functional on all devices. Emoji domains in .com are scarce and new ones are not allowed due to an ICANN ruling called “IDN2008” disallowing emojis along with some other types of registrations. These dot com emojis were created and registered BEFORE the restriction. Again, only 33 functional emoji domain names exist.

This domain even has its own Twitter page: https://twitter.com/CloudEmojiCom

And at one point was being brokered:

False. There are not 2000+ working emoji .coms.

Unless you can demonstrate otherwise, I believe the only EMOJI .com's currently registered are grandfathered in.

That was more or less a click bait article than anything else (imo).

🎯.com doesn't resolve.

Nor is it registered.

But it is a visual play on words for the one word (target.com) owner.

When inside a target store, 🎯.com can be understood as (target.com), after one realizes 🎯.com doesn't actually exist.

Yes, true but it is indeed a clever play on words and symbols and interesting blog write but Elliot Silver, the author, and an Internet entrepreneur and publisher of DomainInvesting.com and founder and President of Top Notch Domains, LLC, LLC, He states "To my knowledge, there are no Emoji .com domain names. Not sure if that was necessary.

He (@EJS) was corrected, and informed, multiple times in the comment section of that article.

To be fair, I labeled it more or less click bait because I had different expectations of what the actual article was, based on the headline.

However, I very much enjoyed the article, picture share, and the commentary that ensued in the comment section.

While it was accurate that Target was using an emoji URL to promote job opportunities within, it wasn't technically a resolving emoji domain name. Though, perhaps that was an intentional barrier of entry to employment? Solve the URL puzzle, and make it to the next step of Targets employment application process.

So is Ariana Grande using or own the cloud emoji? Put another way, is the domain owned by her or representatives of her? Finally, to put it another way, is the following statement from the OP true?

"One of them, .com , is currently being demoed by Ariana Grande"

Ms. Grande does not own the ☁.com, It has been hyperlinked to her landing page for her to demo and consider.

They could have been renewed however, if the owner wanted.
No new emoji-domains are registerrable on com and net but the existing ones are renewable, so they let them exist.
But if you drop these domains (like the 4 you mentioned, then you can't reregister them).

I have to say that these 29 .com probably only are 1 emoji-domains.
I'm 100% there are more then 29 ! There are still others (if you count "combination 2 emoji's", or "an emoji and a word".com) (or .net .tv), that also if dropped can't be reregisterred. (I know because I OWN some of them!)

HOWEVER : of course some specific domains (1 emoji, 2 emoji) are free on .com .net etc.... are STILL registerrable, if they are letters that are part of an existing language, even if they are dropped.
But indeed not the domains you mentioned that dropped.

Hey, .com is available. The only hashtag/idn/emoji .COM. What's that worth?

BTW : This is not the normal hashtag that's on everybody's keyboard. If you try the normal hashtag of your keyboard and put that one in a IDN-search you see that you get a kinda charset error.
How is this possible, one can say ? It is because the above "hashtag" is not the normal keyboard-hashtag, but a specific letter from a specific language => Tifinagh Letter Tuareg Yazh . (that corresponds with http://xn--xmj.com/ ) looking nearly exactly or nearly the same as the hashtag of most keyboards.

Of course this stays interesting.

PS in my message of march 2019, I wrote "if dropped, can't be reregisterred"". This is true, but they CAN be renewed. If they can be indefinitely renewed, we don't know, and depends of the registry. But you can't let such a domain drop and reregister, because registering new ones on these 3 extentions is not possible.
Maybe, if the sucess of .WS where you CAN reregister them (if not catched by someone when it drops), gets higher and intrest in emoji's goes up (what's the case for the moment), these registries (com net tv) can suddenly change their mind and re-introduce them as registerrable.

Interesting. I have one of the single character .com emoji domains left. Didn't realize that these were so rare.

Yes, you're right. It looks similar, but not '#' it is 'ⵌ'

What's it worth? I've had it for a while, not sold it yet. I'd be pleased if it could be sold, developed out into a business.

BTW, my domain is
♋.com

Meaning "cancer" or "69"
