Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

Pretty interesting discussion into a entirely new category, like who would have thought about cannabis products at Sephora?

Although this space is heavily TM and because of testing and so forth too launch brands in this space would be pricey.

Awesome!!! I’ve got a few in this niche...
In com..
CBD Skin Essentials
CBD Face Scrub
In ca...
CBD Makeup
CBD Cosmetics

And just reg’d.... in com
CannabisBeautyProduct

https://www.allure.com/gallery/cbd-skin-care-products worth a flick through for brandable CBD-infused names

I have cannavay.com which I've always thought might be along the cannabis beauty lines

Reminds me of a cross between canna and Camay (soap). Has a nice ring to it. (y)

New Mexico in play ; this is the way I think. More permitts more states more opportunities. More uses, more opportunities for domain sales.

Thier are some hand regs left; sure a needle in a haystack but; todays $8 dreams.

Nmleaf
NewMexicoherb
Both .coms

This pdf file is 140 pages long; a fascinating look into the future of new states coming on line. It passed the beginning stages ; at least for a Spring vote in NM very possibly; also, if we all could focus on the ball here, we're all the better for it.

The USA is a state by state rollout. At least for the short term future, 2 years? This being said thier will be some consideration for both banking and the TM system and Genetics with federal govt approvals. Short of that; it's all about the States.

Reading the extensive pdf ( its printed and bound on my desk , amongst the almost wall of these ) in NM simply confirms the future for us. It's looking better and better. Like, wow

Any valuable hyphenated names out there? I know hyphens are often frowned upon... but when talking to SEO folk, they say hyphens can be good because Google doesn’t recognize them. It just “sees” hyphens as a space.

Anyways, anybody have any hyphenated cannabis names?

I only have one... CBD-Soda / com

Sodas are all about branding, I think it’s a long shot, hyphens are still a tough sell, just that much harder, not easier.

Ya. I agree.. but after reading some SEO articles I found out the info that I posted earlier.... so I thought that would possibly make them a bit more desirable.

I don’t think a hyphenated name would be worth nearly as much as the non-hyphenated version, but even if one can get say $300 or $400 or $500 for a hyphenated hand reg, I think that would be amazing!

I have done that several times for xxx, once in this niche for over 1k - possibly because the unhyphenated names were taken years ago. But hyphens are not an easy sell, no matter how hot the FOMO is.

Do CBD sodas exist yet? For that name to sell they probably have to be on sale. Then to use that name for a site you would have to be selling several brands - and not be willing to pay for the unhyphenated version.

Another question is, do people use domains ending in soda.com? Google says yes. But some of them seem to be agencies.

Do people buy domains ending in soda.com? Namebio says 14: https://namebio.com/?s==QzM4UTO1AjM
Which includes marijuansoda.com at $546 in 2013 at Namejet.

BTW yes for SEO a single hyphen is ignored but more hyphens than that can seem spammy, but EMD domains lost most of their SEO advantage years ago.

There is still the psychological advantage tho.. true that the keywords by themselves wouldn't rank the domain but if the domain/site has good content and is ranked highly for those specific keywords, it will have the advantage to get clicked since the user will most likely find that the domain contains exactly their search keywords, which kinda makes it legit or at least worthy of a click.

However, it would be difficult to compete with a non hyphenated domain when it comes to legitimacy, that's for sure.

I wonder if this will close. My rep explained a scam that’s happening.

I bid $12 and put a proxy of $9,900. My buddy then bids away until he hits $10,000. Of course no legit bidder will outbid the $10k. Then my buddy wins and doesn’t pay which wipes out all his bids. I get the domain for $12...

GoDaddy tries to catch this stuff but it only takes a few people working together to game the system!

So I guess it is only a matter of time before GD implements GD credits.

And the weird high sale prices are coming up with strange round-number figures like this, or ones ending in 88. Why don't they make it even more obvious by ending in 666?

Sadly, it's the legit bidders who get screwed through all of this.

Outbid these scammers and you're paying a fraudulently inflated bidding amount if you win. If you don't bid, then you essentially miss out on a name the other participant in the scam wins on the cheap, through default by their accomplice.

Rock, meet hard spot!

Didn’t weedmagazine.com sell for the same price. There was no secret this was going to sell for a lot, as it was on a tear from the get go. The piggyback bidder system scam is pretty old now, godaddy is probably all over that in all high profile bids fairly quickly as they would stand to lose a lot.
