I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Nope, the run doesn't take place until Feb 20.

And in case you're confused, I am referring to the TBR RESULTS (what was selected each week) and not the Expired List.

Everyone either has nothing or just their own selections, and the CIRA has been silent on the subject, with some registrars stating the the CIRA has no plans to provide one:

https://www.sibername.com/tbr/results.php

https://www.myid.ca/tbr/bidding.php?act=tbr_result_time

Who knows, maybe they're trying to hide the fact that MyID owns the TBR.

I'm sure they'll get around to it. Its trivial to do, especially for a registrar. It just may not be down to the nano-second like before, so it wont be a precise order of success, but whois shows to the second.

I've talked to registrars at length about this previously (like years ago), and the way I understood it, is that at the very end of the TBR selection period, the CIRA would pump out a data set with all the TBR selections on it, complete with time and registrar name, and if a registrar wanted to get it, they would download it or forever hold their peace - it did not stay resident.

So as far as I have been able to find out, the TBR Results everyone posts were a product of the CIRA and made available to participating registrars, and while there may be alternative means (like querying the WHOIS) this "easy" method is what I am referring to, and is apparently what the CIRA will not be providing anymore.

I got a fairly unintelligible response to my own questions. I'll share it tomorrow.

It's probably similar to my collection of "non-answers".

We're lucky the CIRA doesn't run the Olympics or the Oscars...

"Oh I'm sure somebody won something.. don't worry about that, it's not important". :xf.grin:

anyone get an email survey from cira? they're going to launch a cybersecurity service to protect us all.

Yeah, they're launching more value-added services than my local pimp, but they can't even code a TBR Results set, something I could do in my sleep.

AND, they build these extra services with your money. And then they charge you to use them. If they built it with your money, shouldn't it be free????

They took most of those away from me last week.

Seems they are still allowing people to register those names

It appears CIRA has passed the initial task of vetting registrants of reserved domains to the registrar, so technically, its your registrar that has the issue. The more times they get stuck reversing charges, the more likely they'll get around to fixing it. What they need to be doing is queing the order in their system until they get the documentation required to proceed. Instead they are just firing off the registration request...

Damn, the TBR runs are getting way too hot right now (and without any significant resale data to back it up) and I think I'll just stand back for a few weeks.

You're not kidding. Did a few feeler bids at Namespro and grow.ca was at $5k just before cutoff. And ban.ca was at $750

Is a bargain at 5k

Ban?.... Not sure how much commercial worth it would have. I personally would not pony up on it.

What's really strange is that GROW.CA came from MyID - maybe the new CIRA system doesn't allow any funny business?

I know I had a domain drop a few days ago, and it immediately left my Registrar page and I got a CIRA email advising me of this.

Ban?.... Not sure how much commercial worth it would have. I personally would not pony up on it.

I think it would be marketed as a acronym, not a word.

But remember, it was at Namespro who never catches anything. Could have been $1 million and MyID or Siber would still get it. I just used it for feeler bids because I find it simpler to use for things like that.

Agree with you on ban.ca though...almost "too" generic.

Ban is a really interesting word imho. When I first looked at it I interpreted literally as in ban and it seemed too negative to me for much commercial value despite being so short. But if I interpret it with the ca extension as a domain hack banca is a nice name for some sort of banking service or crypto or even crowd funding.

Is it just me or has the quality of dropping .ca gone up recent months?

Well - the results of this week's tbr kinda sucked.

Nope, I'm kinda staying away from MyID just on principle.

Anyone else know what it went for? That's good one to grab, as it's a common single-word/name and has historical use dating back a few thousand years.

Agreed, buycannabis.ca was a good domain name to grab!

Yep, MyID and Sibername got virtually all of the ones I was looking at.

And are those results on Sibername valid? Only 57 names taken, no way!

It's anecdotal, but it seems to me that the quality always goes up in February. Just my impression.

MyID and Sibername both said that they caught buycannabis.ca and both auctioned the domain. Sibername had to eventually close their auction though.
Sibername even sent me an email saying that they caught buycannabis.ca and that it was going to auction.

Nah, that list can't be right as there are definitely some missing and every single week, Webnames.ca and Namespro.ca scurry in at the very end to pick up all the stragglers. I often wonder if they even try.

On the Sibername list, there is only 1 entry for Webnames and 0 for Namespro.

Looks a tad sketchy and I think those are just the names that Siber was trying to pick up, and they noted the winner if they lost.
