I had a 300,000 EUR unpaid sale record on Sedo, which was cancelled 2 weeks ago on one of my premium .APP domains to US buyer, online Purchase and Sale Agreement seems like a joke on websites like GoDaddy or Sedo. Heard too many unpaid stories about how they failed to do anything concrete on unpaid buyers. Literally a waste of time and money in many occasion.

What do you guys think of this? Just move on?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
And you don't even know what you are talking about unfortunately makes me laugh, sad but true.

Go and check the WHOIS of those "supposed" sales you keep mentioning, the proof will be obvious then :xf.smile: Of those amazing sales, 928.app is the only name with a dodgy looking gaming site on it, the rest are for sale or dont resolve now....you really think those were serious sales.

I follow the Chinese market very carefully actually and have sold many domains to Chinese end-users over the years so its not a new market to me.

You really are just making up stats and you know it, if you know all this stuff and you are in the "circle" as you call it, show us some proof/screenshots? Yeah I thought not :xf.wink:

We see this all the time, this is a typical pump up the extension to try and increase the value of your average names that you cannot sell. $300K, c'mon you didnt really think that was a serious offer :xf.frown:

I may be sad, but at least I'm not making up crazy stats/sales to try sell my names...good luck at renewal time. :-P

We’re all “sad” at times but not all of us are coming on here claiming that bogus 300K offers mean something nor are all of us pumping barely used extensions by claiming unverified sky high sales that don’t even make sense for still blank unused websites.

In a way, the one claimed sale that’s the biggest laugh is gay.app as if a company would pay that kind of money for a mere redirect. Show me any redirect in the history of domaining that has sold for and is valued at more even than the parent site.

Dream On, OP!

Don't feel bad. I just had an offer of $55,552,250 on Afternic and it never closed...:ROFL::ROFL:

Not joking though. The offer above is really what they made.

Oh Well, another new member goes about destroying their credibility in just 6 weeks, Shame, because it reads that all the original comments gave the poster credibility. Till he decided to destroy it all. At least it becomes a reference point for any future posts.

I like that comment - "It's my thread, So I can say what I like"

No, not once Hype comes to the fore and overtakes the supposed reason for the headline-grabbing post

Here are possibilities.
1. Buyer was serious but changed his mind after making the bid.
2. Made the wrong offer, maybe tried to offer 3000,00 or made offer on the wrong domain.
3. Unserious person just making fun.

What to do:

1. is unlikely but if you think this might be the case, you can just wait, and let Sedo do its job to collect the money, as much as they can.

2. most likely scenario. There is nothing to do. That person would prefer going to prison to paying 300K.

3. Nothing to do.

You don't go to prison for not honoring commitments you make. With a court order, everything you own might be sold off in a public auction and you might have to declare personal bankruptcy if that is insufficient to satisfy the creditor, but you won't go to prison.

At most, you'll be a penniless idiot.

That's lame, 30 days wow what a waste of good time. They shall shorten it to 3 days only don't you think? None of us appreciate good waste of time, if they fail to pay in 3 days it means they probably ain't gonna pay in another 3 months don't you think?
I will say at least 7 days...

been there done that. had someone skip on me with a domain. Sedo gave the buyers info.

They said you have option to sue them. Guy was in France.

Seemed like a domainer as I checked all other domains associated with the email given by Sedo.

I guess for that amount you could refer to a lawyer in the USA? see if they take case pro bono if they think they can win the case and they get 33% cut.

The Sedo buyer agreement is pretty clear cut.

my domain? it was not $300K so I did nothing. pointless.

We have heard that there are companies that will redirect the buyer to another domain name and talk them into dropping your sale. Certain company's and their brokers are actually buying and selling domain names that they own and if they find a domain name that's close to the one you are selling they will redirect the buyer to a similar domain name they own. It's a scam!
