The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Is that how it's spelt? I thought it was defenses, or is that the American way? I have a feeling defence is British English.

I think that might be the main problem with this domain... That said, with IT security being such a big industry (and growing) I still quite like it - but might find yourself limited to markets that want the british spelling.

Yeah, I checked. Defences is the way it's written in British English, but in the US they say defenses. So in that sense your potential market is a lot smaller.

There appear to be some businesses branding under [keyword]defenses.com - so might want to consider approaching them and seeing if interested.

I found this comparable sale on Namebio:
defence.com 20,000 USD 2018-10-05 Flippa

How much do you think the extra "s" will make difference in selling price? like for example what is usually the price difference between singular vs plural word .com names?

It depends solely on the same. Some plurals are better than singulars. Like cars.com is arguably better than car.com.

I think defences is significantly inferior to the singular but it still has value.

$2500 to $5000 name. Set a BIN and wait for inbounds.

That name is actually good even if its spelled differently, I mean a game developer would love it. You could get 5k, but if you want to sell soon might as well put it up for 2k.

Your best market is probably British English using end users absent some oddball user who wants to be different with the name of some project or business that has something to do with “defense.”

Defence supposedly sold but hasn’t been developed yet. Looks like it is just a for sale landing page.

If defence did sell and it is pending development I’d say your domain defences is worth more to an end user before that development happens. Once it happens then not only the end user has to worry about someone landing by mistake on defense or defenses but also a fully developed defence site.

Oddly enough, you used a British spelling. "Spelt" is British English version of "spelled" for the past tense of "spell". :)
