Is it better to wait for DDC to expire before registering again for DCC. Does this get you a better Coupon Code as is suggested in google searches?

I have had to do this multiple times...still do just it to get access to auctions along with better pricing. This ridiculous process of letting it expire and waiting so I can get the 'reduced' price with a code is what led me to use Epik...no coupons or clubs are required for competitive pricing. My gd club expires soon and I will reluctantly renew...I hate paying someone so I can do business with them.

Anyone has a good coupon for this? I used MAKEITREAL and got it down to $79.12 but wondering if there a better one out there. Thanks..

If I have a GDD membership, do I get any discount for a closeout purchase ?

Closeout is $5-$11 + renewal or transfer. Since GDD gives you a discount on both renewal and transfer, the answer should be yes.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet though.

If you have more than 15 domains, Discount domain club is beneficial.Applies to closeout transfer/renewal also. Also you can apply special methods to get discount club at around $65 for 1 year.

GoDaddy's DDC does not give you a discount on the actual Auction/Closeout portion of your purchase (Your winning bid or the $5-$11 closeout price). However every time you win an auction or a closeout you do save on the "renewal" portion of your purchase.

So for a $5 closeout (for .com's):
Normal cost: $22.99 ($5 closeout + $17.99 renewal)
D.D.C. cost: $13.29 ($5 closeout + $8.29 renewal)

NOTE: Transfers with DDC are $7.99 .. so if you win a domain at auction or closeout that wasn't originally registered at GoDaddy, then it's actually $0.30 cheaper ($12.99)

Try clicking my affiliate link below .. the discounts vary for each item, but you definitely should get some sort of discount if it's a new DDC subscription purchase. (I have no idea how much as affiliates are not allowed using their own links)

Note: I always let me old one expire then rebuy with a coupon code.

I usually use 35% discount coupon I find from the np gd thread. Which i think makes the cost around 15$ for a $5 close out.

I am not a huge closeout buyer so dont see the point for purchasing ddc yet.

@Ategy.com I always try and use your li ks coz it doesn't cost me anything extra and I get to support a fellow member. 😎😎

Yeah .. In a year you need to be doing at least 15 transaction of the following COMBINED for DDC to be worth it:
1) Hand registrations +
2) Renewals +
3) Auction wins +
4) Closeouts purchases

If you aren't renewing/buying more than 15-20 domains a year then it definitely is not worth it in the long term .. but if you have dozens, hundreds or thousands of domains then it's an absolute must! ;)

If I get the DDC then transferring a dot-com from another registrar TO GoDaddy would cost $7.99? Is GoDaddy going to add anything to that transfer cost or would I be looking at $7.99 transfers per dot com?

I did three things:
  1. Used a discount coupon (30% or 35%).
  2. Purchased a 3-year membership.
  3. Changed currency. I tried a few different ones before I found one that gave me a very good exchange rate.
Combined, I got it for $62/year ($186 in total for three years).

Good luck!
