What do you reckon this is worth to the IP holder?

I think you have the trifecta, billions maybe to low of a valuation, you might have crossed into the trillions here.

Yes, I agree billions would be a bargain

Less than worthless

Could even get you in legal trouble.

you'd probably get more entertainment by taking the $100 or so you spent on these names in $1 dollar bills, then setting the bills on fire.

@83rising .. a UDRP is a legal process where trademark holders can get domains that are infringing on their trademarks.

Effectively at the moment you are breaking trademark law (given that you actually admitted to targeting the trademark holders in your first post above)

Although trademark infractions are usually USAGE based, which in most cases means you can't get into trouble until you actually use the domains in a way that infringes on the owner's trademark (via ads or any form of revenue) .. "Google" is one of those terms where a judge or UDRP panellist will likely start with the default assumption that your only interest in the domains is to sell them to Google. (and judging by what you've written above that assumption would be 100% correct).

On top of that the .app TLD is actually owned by Google .. a fact that really made me laugh about this thread.

More importantly .. trademarks aside .. these domains are completely worthless even if Google and other companies didn't exist or had a completely different name.

I very very rarely suggest people actually delete their domains (instead of just letting them expire hoping for a one in a million chance of selling as cost) ... but in this rare case I definitely would delete them from my account if I were you .. or if they are recent registrations then ask your registrar for a refund.

Then do NOT buy another single domain until you've done A LOT of reading and research into trademarks and UDRP's. There are a few episodes of @DomainNameWire that have lawyers explaining UDRP's and trademarks.

They are worth a cease and desist and "drop immediate" letter from their legal teams.

That's all they are worth.

Or going to the local strip club :xf.grin:

Hello 83rising,

Welcome to NamePros.

If they are recently reg'd you should see if you can Grace Delete them.
Registering domains like these is not only unethical but they cast a pall on the Domain Industry when the media gets wind of cases like these and up pops that old nickname... "squatters".

Please view this section:
https://www.namepros.com/forums/legal-discussion.229/
and search "Trademark".
You will find lots of interesting reading.

Also,
NamePros has a strict enforcement policy against Trademarked domains.

6.1.15. Do not infringe on globally-recognized trademarks by listing items for sale that violate the trademark holder's rights. Selling intellectual property or benefiting from the intellectual property of another party's without their permission is strictly prohibited.
This includes typographical errors of globally-recognized trademarks ("typos").

If you would like to learn about the in's and out's of this business, and how people can make a legitimate living buying and selling domains...

Hi @Kenny

Thank you for the welcome and explanation of the rules on this. I'm very happy to donate these domains to each of the trademark holders if they so wished. They simply need to contact me so I can transfer custody to them. I have no financial goals in mind and was only curious as to what the market thought about these novelty domains.

Regards,
J

Those trademark holders aren't going to contact you because if they wanted the names they'd already have them.

Contact your registrar for a grace delete if the names were bought recently (< 5 days). You may be able to recover most of the registration fees.

They are worth a cease and desist and "drop immediate" letter from their legal teams.

That's all they are worth.
All the same... getting those notices from every major social media company in the world is noteworthy in itself... and could be enriching in itself.

Loooong time ago, I registered a Viagra domain. No website, I just registered it. I was naive about TMs or any of the stuff at that time.

About 3-6 months later I got a Cease and Desist letter from Pfizer legal dept telling me I had to do 3 things...

1. Drop the domain
2. Make sure I have no websites that have the word Viagra in any of the URLs (folders, subdomains, etc)
3. Reply to the letter via fax stating I have done the above and agree to not infringe on their copyright in the future (or something to that affect).

Don't _ _ _ _ with people who have deep pockets. They can literally ruin your life.
