Holy crap, TOWN.CA forwards to MapleDots.

Hope he registered it and didn't buy it from someone.
No, he was warning others not to fall for a buy on a high profile fresh reg, plus he is to .ca savvy.

The name was on another thread where someone else mentioned registering town.ca years ago, only to have it taken away from them by the registry. Ironically as he was posting that story, it was sitting there unregistered, and available to be registered for reg fee all day.

Maybe .ca will take all the domains back on Valentines Day, a lot of broken hearts that day.

Much needed levity.

Actually, I have had 3 separate complaints from chimps for associating them with the CIRA IT department.

This is probably one of the most ill-timed, untested and poorly implemented "updates" I've ever seen.

Definitely. People should be fired for this, including management. Major f@*#-ups on multiple fronts. It's like they didn't even try to think this through. Exposed CIRA to serious liability. And considering this "fury" was built as a product they are trying to sell (in direct competition to .CA I might add, courtesy of .CA money), this is a major embarrassment to their sales team. However, CIRA will pretend this problem didn't happen. You will never see it in the news. You will never see it acknowledged on the CIRA website. These are similar issues they've successfully buried in the past. I think this time we need to make sure news outlets hear about this. Need to get CBC in on this story. Need to get Ron Jackson in on this story...

@dtagr I go a stupid response to in reply to the malware site 3rd level for name i registered CanadaWest.ca
Dumb idiots. And update on some numbers
Wrote number of .ca reggae yesterday afternoon when we were discussing canadawest.
Bottom of cira page it said 2,781,982 doughmains registered.
This morning
Domains registered: 2,781,742
so 242 domains were added to the list

https://cira.ca/ca-domains/tbr
this page wont load and is freezing my pc up, then when it loads is at bottom of page. Sure doesnt look like 1000's of names on that page, it wont even scroll properly
Showing 1 to 17,957 of 17,957 entries.

Good job by these people we elected to run the cira(y)
I am going to register a couple .ca to help pay their salary
^Yesterday

Today
Showing 1 to 19,654 of 19,654 entries + 1770 approx new names added to tbr list from yesterday, any good ones recap?

Domains registered: 2,782,108

366 new reg, or way more min us tbr names?

The TBR page at cira still takes a minute or two to load sad, 17000 names in that format might take a while,

Never thought i would say it. Drop the canadian presence requirement, so i can sell my names for more money
As a wise man here once said " i have enough names to be and end user"
thats my goal all along, this is my rrsp

I got in fast and have had about 20 taken away so far.... I have about another dozen or so stashed and am hoping one or two may slip through.

I did warn the city.ca guy a number of times that he will NEVER be safe selling that domain because even a year from now cira could take it away and if he sold it for 10k he would have to refund the buyer.

I never count my chickens before they are hatched and it will be interesting to see this play out.

Whats you think about -tyre.ca- sell or hold .

Whats you think about -tyre.ca- sell or hold .

Tyre = wrong
Tire = right

In Canada Tyre has no real meaning, I would drop because even the chance of finding a company that uses the acronym will be almost non existent.

I focus more on acronyms like jogr, ener, byit, etc..

I like acronyms that could have a meaning

Probably will get recalled like the rest of them regged feb 7-10th

I still have town, county, and region though and so far no recall on them.

Don't worry, they'll get to you - the CIRA is putting out so many fires right now that you can't even see when you walk in the office.

Uh oh, ON.CA just had its WHOIS updated today - they probably sold it to some sucker.

That's a really bad one to be screwing around with as a lot of businesses still use XZY.ON.CA for their primary website - it would be like someone erroneously being allowed to buy CO.COM or COM.CO - Yeesh.

You asking : "how much?" = your offer

I really have no idea what you're talking about here, so I'll just move along.

Just a guess but you may be getting mixed up between the actions SELL and OFFER FOR SALE. Sell assumes a buyer (which is why I asked "how much" (are you selling it for), while offer for sale does not.

A 2-letter alert this week (why bother, MyID will get it and then control/own it forever) and next week - GROW.CA.

Well, of course you're correct, but I had to check on Canada's most popular "Tire" name:
