The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The .in extension absolutely has value, if the keyword(s) are the right one(s).

Many nice sales were reported to Namebio in 2018. You might have a look here: https://namebio.com/?s==gzN0gTN0AjM

.in is getting popular...

Sales also increasing.

In 2017, no sales in the range of XXXXX but in 2018 4 sales crossed that range.

hope 2019 will bigger (y)

Eventually it will probably have some value as India comes online ... but isn't there a risk in the government seizing domains they don't like?

There is a need and demand for local cctlds, this is a fact.

Not for short term but if you have long term horizon

Dot in sales are just plain misfires or sometimes brands protecting their names.
I don't see any value in this tld Or Indian names in dot com too.
Indian companies won't pay anything to acquire a domain name. INDRPs are regularly skewed in favor of the complainants. Try and avoid this tld. It all comes down on luck here.

I’ve sold dot coms to Indian entrepreneurs for good money. In each instance they’ve mentioned to me that they already picked up the equivalent .in for about nothing.

Fully agree. A county with 1.3 billion population, having fastest growing economy in the world and 2nd highest internet users in the world .. and the number of internet users growing day by day too... majority of the internet users are added only in last 3 years time.. in few years, .IN will be huge...

Whats coming is golden era for .IN and we could experience major sales from 2020 onwards.. so far some big ticket sales are happening more privately ... even the reported sales are clearly showing the trend is positive in prices.

From my own experience...
Never had any inbound offers above $1K from India... and almost always they are no higher than $300.
Also no any success with EMDs and Indian companies at .co.in/.com/.org - all my .INs were ignored.

All my 4-figure .in sales were to NON-Indian buyers... and prior nTLDs.
Nowadays I don't meet such foreign .in buyers at all.

I visited India once , but I am still not sure if they mainly speak english or local lanaguage, I know during my trip , they speak english with me, but they may also speak different local language themself...so, I think they have too many choice while decide a brand, they have at least 3 option to select as extension, they also have many local language to choose as well....so, while u believe you hold a nice keywords, they use another ...may be ...so, may be we need left the .in to local domainer...they know how to play the game..

fully agreed..
90% Indians prefer to talk in their own mother-tongue or Hindi. They use English just to avoid communication gap due to language difference... (it was never primary language... not even in British time)

priority wise choices..(my own choices)
1. English .com
2. English .in
3. Local language .com
4. English .co.in
5. Local Language .in
6. English Gtlds (.co/.org/.org)
7. rest all

i will go, wherever my budget fits..

In English speaking countries, no local choices popular, you can not compare them with India.

I can show you thousands available .com names, where .in are developed sites...
You can not say "mostly .com"

"and they will never reply your emails for .com"

I don't send any emails for .com
Instead I receive tons of Indian spam from .COMs
