Hi,

So I have a domain in uixon.com that is showing a value of $2.6 million on free valuator. I know by reading threads that primarily isn't or shouldnt be the only method of appraising my domain. I have not only asked around some brokers but also posted it on here (which I will delete if Its considered a rule break of any kind)

People I have talked to have pretty much told me it's not worth much of any. I get it it's not easily pronouncable. Doing research on Google not much of the word. I know it is a name of some kind. Name not used very often. Couldn't find origin and also seems to be a company that is no longer running or selling.

It has backlinks showing 29,000 on latest backlink check if that matters. Godaddy values it $1,400 and estibot at around $180. It is a 5 Letter .com. I want to say 5 Letter word as it's been used but not a popular keyword or used keyword on google rarely at all. Any help would be great!

<<It is a 5 Letter .com. I want to say 5 Letter word as it's been used but not a popular keyword or used keyword on google rarely at all.>>

I’m guessing that it is an arcane unknown rarely used word or term? but is at least a real word?

Yeah from what ive seen it seems to be more of a name like a middle or last name. When doing research, the word comes up on sites from another country and language from what seems to be a company that is no longer active. There is also a # on Twitter with some avtiviety from a couple years ago. But yeah a word very rarely used.

Maybe the free valuator is dyslexic and flipped the U upside-down.

Lol that would be interesting.
Especially when looking it up it kept asking me "you mean Nixon"

Well if it’s barely a real word then it’s probably not too different from the stuff many new domainers have hand registered and would be happy to sell for about anything. So it’s uixon.com is that what it is?

Yeah I seen the name was dropped and once I seen some of the values and of course that from free valuator, I decided to register it and get more opinions on it.

If it’s uixon that’s a terrible domain name. How do you even say it? Not phonetic either.

That’s not an English word. Why did you think it was? It might not be a real word in any English alphabet language.

I guess it could be “brandable” maybe one of these guys who sells made up or misspelled word names could advise you.

I understand. It seems like it would be U - I -zon. I can be wrong as i am unable to get any official pronunciation from... well anywhere. It could a name in England. The ranking on how common name is now...isnt great. I'm still looking to get origin of name or some definition or meaning.

Interesting because when I look at it I think u ix on with the ix pronounced something like icks.

A proper name is not the same as a word.

Lol I just mentioned the Nixon thing too.... that makes sense. I am trying to get the pronouncement down as you can see im not doing spectacular. It's a dropped domain and found it through expireddomains.net.

appraisal is not 100% because value of domain were result from many factor including human (personal) interest, and there is no absolute 100% AI could cover it.... it's only basic reference, how accurate? depend on how big their database...

your UIXON.COM were appraised by godaddy only $1475 http://prntscr.com/mi8huj

this time ( and I hate to admit ) estibot is closest in evaluation

thanks I did the godaddy and estibot as well in as well as free valuator. It's crazy range in value. I understand each site goes off different metrics. I wanted to maybe buy a professional appraisal but this has been very helpful. I might buy free valuators pro appraisal just so I can question why their site would spit out a number like that, when I looked random up other mixed up 5 Letter domains and that value on their site came up 0.

My only concern is shell out $$$ for that appraisal but more so do I use free valuators free appraisal in desc. In auction as well as estibot and godaddy? I don't want to deceive people but I haven't understood still why I would get that number so high.

its mega ultron common for newish domainers to use appraise tools and worship them...very soon we all learn they are useless.. and that they arent what sells our names or what pays for them in the end

the sooner u learn and accept this the better... resistance is futile. gl.

The goal is to learn how to value domains precisely and with that, i understand it takes time. Im willing to put in work to learn this skill.

However, almost every auction/marketplace I've seen, most auctioneers uses appraisals (usually estibot) for at least a selling point but also depends on Marketplace have more data to sell i.e flippa. I can come out and sell it simply as uncommon name sell backlinks but unsure.

I'm willing to sell it on namepros, I just trying to see if I can figure origin of name if that's what I'm selling or commonality of name.

The name is worthless.

From the fact that you keep asking domainers and brokers about the name, I can tell you seek validation that it's a great name. It's not.

I definitely wouldn't pay registration fee for the name and I imagine others here feel similarly.

I have no idea how Free Evaluator works - when I used to check it it made no sense. I never bother with it now.

Re the name I could possibly see it as a brandable with starting with UI being a plus. If it sold as a brandable woukd be $$$$.

Aixon a name of same length and structure AI vs UI sold for $8500 last month.

It's a crazy number of backlinks which is why Free rated it highly.

Keep that $2.6 million screenshot though!

User Interface UI not as valuable as AI but not meaningless imho

I presume that is why uixon was chosen as name of a product expo in 2012 and that accounts for most of backlinks

If it was my name I would push it as brandable (presuming no TM I did not check) for a user interface company and try to get low $$$$.

Bob

Ps There is a Russian YouTuber using the name it appears.

Sometimes overthinking leads to unrealistic expectations. If a domain can’t even pass the radio test it’s probably not even going to work as a brandable. I mean if this domain is worth low $$$$ then almost any crap anyone hand registers is going to sell for thousands.

@Bob Hawkes Thanks for that information. That is very helpful. Didn't even think of the user interface.

@Lord Antares I do apologize if I am burden or you think I seek validation. Goal at the end is just to come to an understanding with how a name like that can be valued. It clearly looks like I am looking star struck once I see that number on a useless appraisal tool. I shouldn't do that I do apologize. I do want to the goal is to make friends here and learn as well of course value, buy and sell domains.

I do recommend if you are valued member or a "pro" and you have a newbie your talking to, it might be helpful to encourage not discourage future involvement if you value namepros like it seems you do. I am not bothered or care what you say but others might. I asked maybe 2 brokers and this is my 2nd thread on it. Saying its worthless without actual data and Bob says that with data is very interesting.

I think we sometimes confuse two things.
  • The price a name might sell for if it sells - imho that is not much different from GD appraisal in this case. If it sells it sells as brandable, most sell at not less than that. That would be pricing of name if you were trying to sell it.
  • A worth price would take the pricing value multiplied by probability of sale in some holding period, say 10 yrs. An average over com is about 1/10 for a 10 yr period. Imho this is better than average of all com for sale so I might say 1/5 giving a worth price of a few hundred, in range of Estibot.
Names with many backlinks usually sell for at least something on auction.

It would be interesting to see if the brandable markets would accept it. Always hard to predict but I would think they would,

Bob

Ps Uisco sold for $600, another possible comparator.

Okaa you clearly just seek validation. I am done here.

P.S. how would one show you data that a name is NOT valuable? What does that even mean?
