The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If you are about to develope your website on some "niche" then go with .xyz, no issue at all.

But,

If you are looking to invest in "domain" & hoping to sell them as a domain then no don't regg .xyz try to get .com

That's why I am telling you to go with .xyz if you don't have that much money for .com,

Start your site "google all after quality content, authoritative backlinks, user-friendly design & rich content" Google don't see your domain "extension"

ok. So, the domain name is for only indian market. Then should i go with .in(ccTLD) , which is cheaper too.

Yes,

Of course, you should go with .in if all of your customer/visitor are "Indian"

It looks like I misread,

Forget my advice before.

If you are into investing in a domain name then you should invest in the only .com, it's maybe not good to invest "$300" for a single domain name at the entry point.

You should better learn first here.

..if you are not sure which TLD is the best fit for the name
than you probably should not invest in this name at all

there's also a good rule of thumb that works without exception:
.com is always your first choice if avail or affordable

imho

Why did you compare .xyz with .com?
Dont you have any other extentions left for you?

@Salman Mandal

As I stated in first of my above post, If you are going to use it for own personal website/developing yourself than go with any extension better and best will be .in

BUT

If you are going to start the domaining and here to invest in the domain then the most and profitable extension in domaining is .com being said you need to learn a lot before investing a single penny and have look at namebio.com and here at reported sales thread you will find what get sold some time crap names get sold but again that need to registered in .com

It's apples and oranges without knowing the name.. but can say if you need juice from the fruit, squeezing .xyz might run little dry.

I Think.in will be perfect for you If you are going to use it for own personal website.

It's not for my personal use though. i am gonna sell it. But this specific domain will get only indian traffic since it's related to India . That's why i am asking should i go with $300 with .com or $4 with .in extension ?

Your coming across as if you can afford the $300 for the .com. I assume its listed on a re-seller site. In which case the extra cost for the .in is chicken feed, so go with both. Yep I also don't understand where .xyz entered the equation, even if it is on a $1 1st year promo.

I assume the Indian market is not that different from the UK, having both the Country code and Com can help seal a deal, not always just depends on the Global perspective on the domain wording.

We also have our unique spellings and wording that just doesn't travel, so the .com just becomes a safety net reg, no more than that

Apparently you are not convinced it is worth $300 or you would have bought it. And what makes you think the .xyz or .in or even the .com will sell ? We are comparing apples to oranges here.
Answer: none of the above.

"When in doubt, get out, and don't get in when in doubt."

If a .COM is $300 and not selling, then you can be assured that the .XYZ is worthless.
Neither one seems like the best option.
