registrars Best renewals on Name.com?

I have bought a few names on NP, which were regged at Name.com. I have been dithering whether to renew at Name or transfer out to my main portfolio at GD. I have a name coming up for renewal shortly and the renewal is higher than I expected at over $17 Canadian. I can certainly do better at GD for a renewal. So do any of you get a better price than this at Name??

Name.com renewals for .com are around $12.99, correct?

That seems about right. I'm in Canada so see the Canadian dollar price. $12.99 US would be about $17 Canadian. My GD renewal price with the discounted DDC price is a lot lower than $17 Canadian.

If you are open to other registrars some are probably the same or lower than GD

I think Dynadot is depending on pre-funding / spending
Namesilo discount based on # of names you have bought there I believe
Epik $8.49 with Domainer discount, by asking a staff member of Epik or CEO Rob M.

GD with DDC could be lower but I don't use it anymore so not sure on the exact discount rate

check out @alcy link above.

Name isn't so competitive.

I presume you know of these tools to see who has the lowest transfer and renewal rates.

https://tld-list.com/tld/com

https://www.domcomp.com/tld/com

I give the link for the .com results, but if another extension easily found as well.

I tend to go wherever is cheaper, but avoid the registrars I don't know or have heard negative things about. It is easy to move from one to another although it will add the 60 day lock, normally, if that matters.

.

That is pretty decent (Namecheap link from @alcy) but it does expire on 2/7/19. So, if you're going to take advantage, might want to do so before the expiration.

Speaking of renewals, around the end of 2018, Internet.bs had a similar (limited time only) deal for transfers. I transferred roughly 70 of my domains there and saved some $. Oddly enough, most of the transfers were either from GoDaddy or Namecheap.

If you have 100 domains at the same registrar, it is also worth asking if they have any special deal for you that may not be publicly announced.

@Bob Makes a great point. Some registrars might have a higher threshold, but there usually is one (or more).

Thanks @alcy and @Bob Hawkes : I am looking at your suggested links now. I guess I was surprised to have purchased some names here that were at a registrar with such a high renewal rate.

The GoDaddy conundrum is that their rates are also very high comparatively, unless you join their beloved Discount Domain Club, and for that to be worthwhile you need quite a few names there.

Been there, done that. The additional cost of privacy (the actual amount per domain) was the prime factor in my decision to transfer most of my domains from there to somewhere else; mainly to places where there was little or no extra cost for privacy.
