Hello everyone, i just stumbled into domain flipping some days ago as i was searching for ways of making money online. And this is so awesome, it's like real estate but online, i became so fascinated from this kind of online business that i already hand registered a new domain (doing some research on old successful sold domains, value appraisals, lenght, if it's brandable, pronounceable, ecc...) And i think it's gonna go pretty good (maybe i'm too optimistic). Still figuring out the best ways to sell it (auction, listing) and on which sites. Thanks for having me here and if you have some newbie tips i'd be really happy to hear from you.

Welcome to NPs and the very best wishes for a successful domain investing career. It is always nice to have enthusiastic new members of NPs. The norm is only a small percentage (like 1 in 100) selling in any one year, so stay realistic, but I hope you beat the odds! You will find lots of expertise willingly shared at NPs. What niches do you plan to concentrate on, @Njtnelav ?

That's nice...

I can relate to the feeling of finding of something interesting and thinking we can do great in that field...

My suggestions are simple don't register names until you spend a month time on this forum and also various other blogs and podcasts...

DomainNameWire..(blog & podcast)
DomainSherpa (podcast)
Domaining.com
(Gives all sources related to domain field...and regularly updates from all the established blogs in the Domaining field...)

You will love these all...

I know how we get some idea and will search the name for that and register it....I will say if you can put brake on that and do some research on the same name... enduser possibilities...search volume.... Trade mark issues...and then go with your final decision.

You will see results....at least in long time...but don't expect immediate results :)

Can't wait to see you getting a first sale...

Good luck,
Ravi.

Welcome @Njtnelav - glad to have you at NamePros. You'll do well to follow the suggestions offered above: read and learn, buy slowly. Also, don't expect instant wealth and success -- domain investing is a slow process.

Welcome to the cult. my few cents,
- it is much more difficult then you think
- it is as fun as you think
- hope you learn from others mistakes vrs make your own
- this forum is the path
- what you reg right now prob will never sell. so slow down :) ..... ps we all did it.

O and Namebio / ExpiredAuctions.net , my two favs. look for "Tools" thread .
and watch what sells mostly, NOT what everyone is buying.

Happy Researching Njtnelav

Certainly good areas. Best to mainly concentrate on areas that you know the field.

Welcome and good luck. It's great to see the enthusiasm but be careful with your money. Over enthusiasm that leads to buying too much too soon is your bank account's biggest enemy at the moment. Take your time, read as much as possible, and ask for people's opinions. You'll save a lot of $.

Welcome. to namepros.

You will. certainly make some newbie mistakes but take it as a learning curve.

If you are in for a quick flip, you can get 4 Letters dot com domains for $100 to $150 depending on the quality, and sell for $200 to 250.

You can also look expiring domains aution on godaddy and other registrars that offers such, look. at. what most people are interested in.

For handreg strategy, only do it when new technologies or innovations are being dropped and hyped by fellow domainers.

For outbound strategy, geo domains sell. faster in this category. Populated us cities + strong keyword will do.

NB: Doing all the above doesnt mean the domain(s) will sell as we all also need a wee bit of luck.

DONT BE GREEDY. BUYING A DOMAIN FOR $10 AND SELLING FOR $50 IS STILL A GOOD RETURN.

Welcome,
As mentioned above, try to stick to areas, businesses, trades that you are familiar with initially. Play to your strengths and knowledge and don't go-off on wishful thinking...If you know about about a particular subject your domain investigations will yield pleasure and add to your existing knowledge
