discuss Would you sell your entire portfolio? How much?

let’s say your portfolio size was 1000 domain names.

Would you sell for regfee$10 each? $10,000

Would you sell for $25 each? $25,000

Would you sell for $100 each? $100,000

Would you sell for $250 each? $250,000

Would you sell for $500 each? $500,000

Whats the least you’d sell your entire portfolio for?

This is a tough decision to make. Obviously everyone’s portfolios are valued differently and everyone has certain domains in their portfolio they wouldn’t want to include.

Would you turn down $100,000 offer?

Great thread! I've read trough most of the responses, and while my portfolio is not for sale, I own approximately 1,500 domains like you. Mostly I'm looking for a partner to compliment some of my strengths, and to offset my weaknesses. In that regard, if I were to parse out a thousand of the best domains I own, I'd ask around 50K for 33% of my portfolio which comes to $150 per domain. My domains by themselves aren't worth that much, but the business model/plans behind a half dozen of my domains adds value to the entire portfolio. If you combine that with my business model/plan to sell domains to industry specific "end users", that too adds value to my portfolio.

I think it was member wwwweb who recommended to sell industry specific "mini portfolios", and I agree with his assessment. For instance, I own about a hundred marijuana/cannabis/pot domains that I might ask $200 per domain for, or about a hundred financial services domains that I might accept $175 per domain for.

For anyone interested, I'll be the guy in Vegas wearing my new Virginia Vanity Plates with "Name Guy" on my front and on my back:xf.wink: Cheers!

I have domains in my portfolio worth keeping some that I wouldn't even sell for 1 million dollar offer. But, 90% of my domain portfolio assuming it was 1,000 domains I'd offer that for like $800,000.

Everyone would sell, it is the matter of profitability and the expected return.

If your portfolio steadily generates $50000/year after renewals and fees and the expected return by you and the buyer is 40%, then your portfolio is worth $50000 / 40% = $125,000.

Now if you want to sell using 25% and your investor wants to use 50%, then you have a bridge to gap, since your valuation will be at $50000/25%=$200000 and your investor will want to pay $50000/50%=$100000.

Good topic to discuss.

If somebody offers what I project to make in 3 years, I'd sell. With more cash at my disposal and more experience in the business, I can build a better portfolio in a year or so, all while pocketing a decent profit.

What would the projection be based on?

I have mostly liquid domain names in my portfolio.

Portfolio size = 80

Worst ones fetch 500 in reseller market.

Good ones fetch 5,000 to 10,000 in reseller market.

Just turned down a 5000 offer on one of my LLLL.coms and countered it with 20,000

According to those calculations my guess is

40 x 500 = 20K for average ones.
20 x 2000 = 40K for medium ones.
10 x 5000 = 50K for some good ones.
10 x 10000 = 100K for best ones.

Total = 210K

Portfolio size = 150 ( only i want to keep to be renew )
100 x 150 = $ 15000 a fair price

If I were to sell my portfolio, excluding the names I am developing, I'd go about it by the multiple of the profit it is generating.

2x to 4x, depending on robustness of the portfolio and its ability to sell on auto-pilot etc., seems proper range for the valuation, given that no significant change happened.

My portfolio generated around $120K net for 2018, but I also considerably increased the number of .coms I am holding. If my sales increase by 50% or more as a result, then basically $180K would be used as a base and multiplied by 2x to 4x, hence the value range of $360K to $720K.

I mostly deal in .ca's so the audience is small. I'd sell for $15k and start from scratch

I would accept 100,000 USD for the 380 domains in my portfolio.

Thus far my avg sale price is around $1500.

i hold 1500 names. I am happy to sell at $800 ~ $900 each for the portfolio. When buyer buying bulk, we can't ask more $. Realistic price will lead the portfolio sale.

I have turned down $40k offers and still holding them. so it would be great for the buyer too (y)

While I wouldn't sell my entire portfolio :xf.grin: I've been thinking a lot about this sort of thing to help fund a new project.

Most of my domains are related to each other (virtual reality), so it's very possible for someone to be interested in the bulk of my portfolio. I think it's more likely to sell my domains separately to endusers/resellers though.

I'm planning to list around 100 vr domains from my portfolio for $600 each. Any lower just doesn't make it worth it. I think $600 each is pretty affordable for these domains and anyone who sees the potential of VR will think so too. I believe the majority of them could be sold for a lot more.

It's tough to decide on a standard price for them all instead of pricing them individually. However, I'd rather sell 10 instead of waiting to sell 1 or 2 for the same price I that can sell 10 for.

I would sell my entire 301 name portfolio for $25 per name. Not a bad price considering I sold 2.5 domains per month average for the last 2 years. (Most sales $xxx with a few $xxxx sales).

Do we have a deal?

If needed to sell all in a day, I'd say $50 each but only if you do now . :xf.grin:

If i had 1000 domains id probably accept a $100k offer, however i only have 120 domains because i flip my domains too quick, I've been hovering between 115 - 120 domains for the last year now even though I'm buying everyday

Would only sell my whole portfolio if someone comes up and says to me

Personally ... every one has a different idea on the value of ones own portfolio ... but speaking for myself ... i don't think selling the whole portfolio ( ~ 1800 domains ) i wouldn't think I'll take less than a half a million... afterall it's my sole income for the past 20 years ... would be pretty stupid to give it away for less ...

All for 1M, all except 10 for 100K, all except 100 for 10K, all except 1000 for 1K if it would happen fast.
If I try to sell at NP, I would be offered at most 50K, maybe at most 10K.

I own a portfolio of +1000 domains in 3D Printing, Smart tech, and Big Data.

I do not expect selling all single domains, but when developing content and credibility, better to have kw names to cope the vertical space (same as shelves in supermarket with products with even not profit). I may consider in the 7 figures.

Another factor is that portfolio price will depend on market size and growth of the industry related. In my particular case, 3D printing market growth at 22% CAGR till 2023. So probable good to wait for right enduser.

I will sell my entire portfolio for $70 each. Currently have 35 domains. I have turn down offers of $100.

I have to think nobody with some decent domains would sell them all. I have several that are potential life changers. I presume we all would keep some. A lump sum is a pipe dream. Besides you'll blow it fast enough right? When you have 1000 domains? You probably have too many! But that is just my opinion.
