Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship

Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

I started a new test to see if I can spark some more interest in VR. With 350+ domains priced at $300/$600, I suspect the majority of the buyers will be resellers and some content creators for the geo domains. I don't think there are as many end-users looking for domains - at least right now. It's only a matter of time before things heat up.

Come Spring time with the release of the Oculus Quest, there is talk that it will take VR mainstream. Fingers crossed! :xf.cool:

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some major announcements during GDC/VRDC and E3. With both PS5 and the next XBOX on the horizon, both likely to be built with VR in the mind, the next couple years is going to be a huge shot in the arm. Sadly I really can't see either consoles being released until late 2020 in-time for the holiday season. I suspect we might see a Switch Pro with limited VR support before then, which would also help the growth of VR.

There's also the Mad Box coming too, which sounds very promising for VR. I suspect they will wait for both the PS5/XBOX2 to be released before they announce their system specs so they can guarantee that they will be more powerful and support whatever headsets are available at that time. I suspect they might also partner with HTC, Varjo or StarVR.

VR will not go "mainstream" for at least the next 5 - 10 years, unless a dramatically different headset is released sooner than that... and I don't see that happening. The tech is STILL too primitive now.

I have tried VR several times to get my head around it and I have zero desire to do it again. It's blurry, nauseating and quite frankly not nearly as entertaining as I would like it to be. For training and arcades I see it progressing slowly in the now but for entertainment it's just not happening yet in my opinion...

I try to follow some of the top VR names on twitter. It seems to me the uses, new products and VR enthusiast are growing daily. It's happening so fast I can barely keep up with them and I don't follow some of the major players because they just post too much relevant VR information all day. Virtual Reality is changing faster than most of us realize.

Tweets are full of industry related stuff posted by people who are in the industry and of course ethusiasts, but that shouldn't be used to gauge how fast VR is becoming relative to consumer mainstream growth.

It's still a good sign regardless, and I do believe that VR has great "mainstream" potential, which is why I've invested in some names, but I think think that when you are watching the developments on a regular basis it can create the illusion that it is becoming more popular than it really is, especially when it comes to what would be considered "mainstream". Playstation VR after all sold 2 million headsets and millions of other headsets have been sold, especially in China, so in some ways VR has reached to a some kind of level of "mainstream", but I have also seen some negative numbers on how often VR is used by consumers who have bought in.

But once again, it's all positive news...I am just doubtful about the speed in which VR will take the next steps in mass adaption...

Yeah I agree, the more VR folks I follow, the more VR stuff shows up in my feed. That said, there are hundreds of small companies working on making VR much more comfortable on our faces & eyes. Crypto and pot domains are having their ramp. I expect VR will too when its use goes from 1% to 5%.

When a VR game or platform let users monetise the time they invest and own virtual assets on the Blockchain then we’re going to see something interesting happen. At the moment it’s all one way. In game purchases are ultimately never really owned and that sucks.

I hope someone can post them. Unless I'm reading something wrong, you can't even get namebio domain sales any more, without a paid subscription.

I've been benefiting from namebio's free search. What does a paid subscription offer that you'd hope to see?

I use namebio almost daily, and it's always free to search.

There is a new option at the top right for memberships, but that has no affect on free searches.

They have different tiers. I've found the free link again and that's all I need.

Yeah, I guess they put the new membership link hoping we'd sign on. I've got the free link again...thanks.

Nice to hear XRP are getting onboard. VR and Crypto is going to be YUGE! 😆

Virtual World that lets players trade in-game items using XRP

https://dailyhodl.com/2019/01/28/ba...ons-token-sale-goes-nuts-crypto-news-roundup/

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse says a number of games are in development that will take advantage of XRP. During a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Garlinghouse said gaming offers a great use case for blockchain.

I think this is one area where maybe blockchain use is underhyped. I don’t talk that much about blockchain use in gaming. I think it’s incredibly interesting. In terms of which underlying blockchain is most efficient, that’s, I think, a question of speed and scale. I know there’s a couple being built on the XRP Ledger, and I think it’s going to be a very interesting space to watch in 2019.”

One such game that’s incorporating the XRP Ledger is BeachHead 2020. The game’s developers say they’re working to create an immersive virtual world that lets players trade in-game items using XRP.

I’m sure you’ll do really well with that name Alcy.

I’ve started to see a lot more interest and get a quite a few dm’s on my Twitter regarding VR and Crypto. @VRCryptocoins

There are several VR projects being developed on Ripple, Ethereum and Tron all which look really promising. I’m really confident these platforms will encapsulate everything VR has to offer and they all have their own dedicated Cryptocurrency which makes sense.

In general, what's better?
VR + Dictionary
V + Dictionary

In the case of VRRide, do you think VRide is better only because the Dictionary word starts with the letter "R"?

Thanks,
DN

v is not really vr..it was there before vr...bit like virtual+kw...but not exactly ;)

i said double rr is worse cause of past sales values of both..various whois checks (age)... and how in general all domains are less desirable with double letters.. the good old idea of what looks better applies... but of all the vr names i whoised ive yet to see rr being older than r.... that says a lot. hope this can help... :)
