Hi friends.

as some of you know, English is not my primary language. This is one of main reasons I suspect I have some bad domain names in my porffolio. Primarily, I am usually not sure about singular/plural forms of keywords, and I think some of them might be simply gramatically wrong. Naturally, I do not want to spend my money to pay for renewals for such domain names.

Therefore I need your help.
Rules:

1. Domains to check are in my portfolio at:
www.brands.international

2. In your post, write 5 - 10 domain names you think are bad, (or at least worse then others I have)
- but only 1 bad name per extension!

(in another words, you need to write 5 - 10 bad domain names in different extensions)

3. if you can or want, also write why you think the are bad (gramatically incorrect, does not really make sense, is not much used in this context, keyword does not go with extension, keyword not in large end user demand, or you just do not feel it, etc).

4 Post into this thread until end of Thursday 17.1.2019 your time. All posts after this time period are welcomed, but they will not be eligible for chance to win financial reward described below.

$$$ REWARD FOR YOUR HELP $$$:
I will publicly choose 1 post (it must contain comments on at least 5 of my domain names) and which I see as most helpful for me, and will pay reward of $50 to it's author.
(Payment only via PayPal, so you need to have PayPal in order to be eligible for reward. In case you will not provide your PayPal address until 72 hours since I ask you via PM, I reserve my right to select another Namepros member instead.)

Many Thanks :)
PS: do not be afraid to criticise, this is the whole purpose of this exercise.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Thank you for all amazing posts so far!

Lol, poor domain name Free.Institute seems to be getting lot of heat :)

Also Homes.Center got many many negative reviews (and to be really polarizing name, it also got 3 fantastic opinions, but not listed in this thread). This only shows that there are so much various opinions as there are various people. Saying that, I take each and every feedback into consideration, gratefully.

Few more hours to go before winner is announced :)

I did not comment on that name earlier but I love homes(.)center! Could see use for a home renovation or furnishings store chain or as a centralized set of listings for real estate. Also could work well as some sort of reference site for FAQs re buying and owning homes.

I see Free(.)institute as much more niche. I am sure good uses for it exist but whether enough to make probabilities of sale worthwhile not clear to me. It would be a fun name for a coupon type culture that shared how to get free stuff, rather grandly calling the membership an institute.

The exercise has shown that clear differences in opinion exist for many domain names even amongst those with expertise! Each day's NameBio list has many sales of names I would not have regarded very positively.

Hope you get some additional portfolio feedback before your deadline. The sharing of thinking has helped us all learn.

Bob

Thanks guys!

I really liked and appreciate answers of @MrAcidic @Bob Hawkes @MapleDots and @Silentptnr

Honorable mentions are post of new member @Hustling and @Kate (although OP is not fan of new gTLDs in general, weighted in with helpful ideas). Another honorable mention is @BaileyUK for being nice and kind.

I liked posts of others as well, and I am grateful for them.

Personally, I liked posts of @Bob Hawkes and @MapleDots most, both well informed and good spirited OPs from Canada! But winner can be only one, and it is .....

@Bob Hawkes - Thanks a lot of very detailed comment, and helping me to improve my portfolio :)
I will PM you now for paypal details, hopefully those $50 will buy some nice dinner anda glass of wine even in more expensive country as Canada is! Thanks again.

Thank you @lolwarrior!

Your contest generated many valuable comments, and I think helped us all to think more clearly about what makes some names better than others, and how even tiny nuances can make a difference.

I had glanced at your portfolio a number of times earlier, but the challenge of providing detailed comments caused me to look at it in more depth. I'm glad I did as I learned a lot just from going through each name in your portfolio. Totally impressed with so many great matches across the dot that you have.

I learned from the various submissions that many made here, and I am glad that you highlighted the most helpful ones above. It was nice to see some in depth submissions from those normally outside ngTLD investing as well as those of us who concentrate mainly in the new extensions.

Your exercise has set a model for something we should all do regularly - evaluate the names in our portfolio, seeking opinions of others.

Thanks again,

Bob

ps Thank you for your kind comments fellow Canadian @MapleDots! Appreciate your energy and business savvy across so many threads in NPs.

I have certainly come to believe your a decent fellow lolwarrior. Wasn't my initial and early thoughts purely because I was concerned that your persuasive powers may have been over stretched in regard to new Tlds.

I've certainly taken onboard, that I'm really no different... Takes me back to my early days of persuading everyone about the future of the internet. At a recent family gathering every member of my near and distant family complained about the wiring mess I made getting them all on the internet before it really had any significance.

I wish I had the ability, that you've shown in second language skills

Absolutely agree. This is a beautiful picture of what helpful community can look like. We all had incentives to help, even if they weren't intrinsic!!:)

I think the GTLD will eventually (very eventually) come to be mainstream. The problem right now is to how to market them. You really need to create a market to sell as they do not sell themselves like .COM do.

Some are nicer then others but they will be slower sale vs. .COM

If it was me I would Non-renew the entire portfolio.

Take the 5k that you would of paid for yearly renewals over the few years and invest in 5 good two-worded .com domains at 1k each. Your risk to reward with new gtlds does make it profitable for you on any scale. The only extension that you can possibly have a chance at making a bit of money .is .io

It is not very exciting when you spend $100 for a name to maybe get 500-1000 tops from someone on the new gtlds.

You can buy a .com for 1k and get 5k-10k or higher. The problem with the new gtlds is that they have a ceiling on price appreciation and it is very very low. So you will never make much money. Yeah you can make a few bucks here and there but really why focus on cheap names that have limited potential. To many exist. It's like buying a stock and the company has one trillion shares outstanding it becomes quite worthless.

Give money to charity!

Well, all I can say - luckily, you are you, and I am me :)

But of course, if you feel it is better, you can invest in two-worderd .com names.
I sincerely hope it works for you. GL!

I hold new gTld only with high sales in other extensions :

e.g i have credito dot online ... similar sales creditos .com .mx ... ..online is better than com.mx.. in that case i have chance...otherwise I do not think I can compare new gtld with .com sales , they are two different enviroment
