Has/does anyone promote their domains for sale on social media & has anyone managed to sell any via this route !? I've been trying for some time but am coming to the conclusion it's a complete waste of time !

Lots of 'likes' & daft comments but I think most people are just unaware of the potential value of domains or that there is a whole industry/marketplace for domain names & hence don't get that you may be asking more than a few dollars for them.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I do not so much to sell them but I tend to tweet my own domains and give a brief explanation of why I bought the domain name and I mention if an emoji or idn domain has been sold etc because most people don't know that these types of website addresses can be bought although not Al countries allow them to be used etc

And I explain the seo benefits that gtlds domain names have and I tend to mention an extension I have not seen before etc just as I like to see new gtlds being sold on namebio etc

The advantages of outbounding via social media platforms are that one can bypass email spam filters and presumably the person managing the social media platform is probably closer to a decision maker than the admin of [email protected]. The disadvantage is that there are pretty strict limits on how many messages can be sent before Facebook, Instagram, etc block your ability to do so. As well, you are still dealing with businesses that view a web presence or online marketing as very low budget. Domains do not matter in their opinion as a social media account is free. Sometimes I have received responses within 24 hours but a couple weeks ago (Jan 2019) I received a response for a message sent May 2015. Despite the serious money companies spend on business travel, exec bonuses, IT costs and all sorts of marketing, twenty plus years after the internet became mainstream most people see no reason to spend more than $xx for a domain.
