Same steps that have been around for years and years.
And still I see people start blogs on domains that make not one bit of sense or even come close to the subject of the blog.
Thus number 4 should be number 1.

Now, tumblr is about the last place to ever want to start a blog.
Yes, I have one there, but it has been there since back when tumblr was a good platform.
Since they got bought out and made so many changes, with more on the way, it has devolved into almost worthless.

LOL .. I've had NameCult up for several months now and still haven't done #5 or #6 on your list! Content is king .. I figure people who come for my daily auction/closeout lists could care less about how pretty the site is! lol .. That being said .. at least the tables are great (searchable / sortable), that in itself is 100x ore important than a pretty logo! lol
