.HOMES re-released

I received in a Uni Newsletter that .HOMES has been released without restrictions. Did anyone else see that and try to register any domains. It was tough going. Most were already taken or very premium prices from the registry. I did manage to get OFFSHORE and LAKESIDE for discounted reg fee :)

Whilst I was searching. I found RETAIL.DOMAINS available, so took that too :)

I considered superb but passed. It's a better than average domain IMHO. I like coffee for some quirky reason. I think smartest is a bargain when smart is $600k. Anybody seeing smart at $600k might well consider smartest as a cheaper alternative. Nice registrations overall.

Thank you. All synonyms for superb are priced at xxxx.

Tea.homes or even beer.homes are priced xxxx, but coffee ☕ somehow fell through the cracks.

I can see ☕.homes as a coffee shop chain or supplier.

And, yes, with iot and smart home tech craze, smartest.homes made sense.

And classyhomes/com is a company, as I just looked up.

Overall though don't have much expectations for ngtlds ) probably another collector stuff to be subsidized by my .coms

I'm also at the very beginning to start to appreciate NGTLD's. But I'm about in the same frame of mind as you. I think .HOMES has great potential to be one of the bigger serious NGTLD's with widespread appeal. If I had a business related to residences, I would happily register a .HOMES domain matching my business name. I'd try to secure the .com also. I think the registrar has been quite greedy with what they have reserved, and the prices they are asking. IMHO.

Yeah, they are all over the place with prices.

At least all renewals are standard. And if they get that in $10-20 range they might be OK.

I agree that .home would be more versatile.

But, .homes works better for realty.

Agreed but most people buy one house so....

123MapleAve.home as opposed to 123MapleAve.homes

There are only so many real estate companies in the world and the extension needs as many users as possible or bankruptcy here we come.

Also MapleDots.home could work as a home page whereas MapleDots.homes would not.

If I was running the extension I would have opted for home instead of homes.

You are right.

Numberwise, home would have more uses.

But they would not mostly be worth paying xxxx for the use.

While if homes makes sense, then it can justify the price tag.

There are hundreds of thousands of property agents and many of them use homes as part of their brand.

I would like to take advantage of the growing trend of sharing economy and globally increasing house prices, so I registered Shared/Homes. I think it can be a good domain for a home sharing business targeting poor citizens, exchange students, tourists and so on. What do you think?

I was thinking of getting Immersive/Homes. (Regular rate:xf.smile:) but I didn't. Available as of this posting if anyone is interested.

I think it would be great developed as a 3d virtual tour site for homes. Imo

This is a very entertaining post, so I tried TINY and CONNECTED but they were gone.:xf.eek:

I remember reading about .HOME which was applied for by quite a few registries. Unfortunately delegation was postphoned, maybe forever, due to the threat of name collisions.

Many big corporations already use .HOME in their naming systems for their internal networks or intranets. Presumably including some of the companies that provide the backbone and security of the internet itself.

Nobody seemed to be sure how much chaos, conflict or crashes might happen if the extension suddenly went live. Too risky to try.

https://icannwiki.org/.home

Also, while there are some very clever registrations displayed here, everyone should be aware there is a lot of competition like .PROPERTY, .PROPERTIES, .REALTY and .REALESTATE (not sure if these are all live).

This page provides a handy link near the top to view the TLDs:

thanks. did not know about .home story. Wow!

regarding competition, .homes beats them all overall, as it is applicable not only to realty agents, but to builders, management companies, iot etc. And it has that warm feeling that makes a home different from a house. And it is shorter ) And if as you say .home is blocked, then at least it lack the plural/singular confusion.

Tiny is reserved, like many of the best combos, this is a relaunch, not a new release. They thought people would be lining up for .homes on the first release with high general reg., and such, they finally figured out how to create value in their extension by letting it grow organically thru a user base.

Maybe it comes with a house ?
Rather with homes hahaahaaa

Tried "smart.homes" .But $60000:xf.eek::xf.eek::xf.eek::xf.eek::xf.eek:
It shows not only XX,XXX.xx USD * but even XXX,XXX.xx USD * - but at least the renewal - fee is not higher than XX.xx USD * hahaahaaa

* At the time I made this post.

I registered highest.homes for an undisclosed fee.
I want to add that I think that this domain could perfectlyyy be used as a web address for the top - apartments on skyscrapers although I registered it for another reasonnn

That should give us domainers some shelter to find .HOMES domains which be can be sold at a reasonable price :)

Suberb and Shared are good keywords. ...but overall, new gTLDs still work only with very best keywords, so either find such, or be prepared your name will not sell for years to come ... imo :)

I actually knew home was used everywhere including a lot of websites ie home page. That is why the market would have been so big for it. I think it's overblown similar to the year 2000 change over when everything was supposed to blow up. Businesses would adapt very fast and the .home extension might have had the possibility of at least a marked measure of success.

.homes has too much competition and is late too the party, I agree with this quote (y)

Also, while there are some very clever registrations displayed here, everyone should be aware there is a lot of competition like .PROPERTY, .PROPERTIES, .REALTY and .REALESTATE (not sure if these are all live).

The success of an extension depends on mass numbers and between all the competitors and thousands of real estate type of businesses it will still be limited because an extension needs millions and millions of registrants to be successful.

In my opinion .home could have achieved that and .homes is limited.

Time will tell, I think I'll be able to crow about this one with an I told you so in about 5 years.

For .homes, those very best keywords cost 4 figures or even 6 figures (e.g. smart.homes)... However, my shared.homes only cost around $10.

I know, I scanned .homes for all reasonable keywords already time ago :)

Still, all that does no matter, when it comes to the fact whether end users will give some offers to names which we have registered.

And the cost is not $10 really, it is only discounted first year costs...full renewal fee will be something much differrent (depends on the registrar where you hold it).

I don't really like the extension as a plural at all.

Dot homes seems set-up specifically for the Geo+homes market only.
ChicagoHomes, NashvilleHomes, etc.
I'm sure every major populated town/city is priced ridiculously though.

@stub I do like your lakeside pickup for less than $10. Hope you sell it for their sweet spot of 6k or better.

I looked up maybe 30-ish and most seemed priced at 6k.

I didn't reg any but found a few available that "might be" worth the $10 reg fee gamble if anyone would like...

SolarPower.homes
SolarPowered.homes
OffTheGrid.homes

Good luck
