Saying .com is no longer relevant for domainers, is like saying diamonds are no longer relevant for gem traders.

Just go and browse the 100 latest .com sales at Namebio or Dnpric.es and compare it with any other extension.

whoever said that is not relevant with domain industry imo

As its said CONTENT IS THE KING for Websites.
.COM is the king of all domain TLDs , even though the price is higher when compared to other TLDs.
When you don't have too much money to buy a particular .COM domain , then you can find alternative TLD , but need to spend time & effort to promote it.
In recent years , ICANN has lot of TLDs as the available .COMs were very expensive & were already taken , in-order to cater the demand from new comers @ affordable price , they launched these TLDs.
Still in forthcoming years , there will be lot more TLDs available & there might even be a change on how DOMAIN works , who knows
But always .COM comes first when you think of domains .
