Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So afternic suspended my account and sales for this,..

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Afternic Support. You violated the Terms of Service by listing a domain you do not own and your account will not be reinstated unless you can provide verification of ownership of ***.com.

Regards,
The Afternic Team

I have send the ticket sent to my email and my domain manager on network solution which also included others name i listed, my question is, will my sales be recovered again?

Just to verify the ownership, they suspended your account?
They should simply send you a message that they want you to verify the domain ownership.

What's the point of cancelling sales in between, suspending the account and then asking to provide proof of domain ownership?

I tired for them, They aren't considerate, that will be my first sales in domaining. The other thread you directed me to, the person said this but @Joe hasn't reply yet,
"Hi Joe,

I really appreciate how quick you resolved this matter.

If this particular account wasn't eligible for suspension, how Afternic can suddenly message someone that account is suspended.

Previous day, the buyers were sent the message that sale is cancelled and refund will be issued. After suspension is removed, Afternic will need to contact the buyer's again. Just thinking how buyer will feel about the seller and Afternic itself?

Please make sure there is a strong reason to suspend any seller's account."

Hi Afternic team,
Not able to access the account_admin page for updating the payee details. I am getting the below message. I have just written to [email protected]. Looks like this issue exists for a long time. I tried in chrome and IE browsers.

I was out of the office for Thanksgiving. I have made sure your account was restored and we will work on a better process for account suspensions going forward as it seems a few were recently suspended that should not have been. I discussed this with the manager in charge and they are implementing some changes. I apologize that you were caught in this suspension.

Also, i have re-listed the domain name now.

Hello,

The buyer has repurchased the domain, I'm very grateful.

How long does it take for afternic to send email outline steps for sending a domain sold manually to buyer.?

It is now 72 hours that they send initial mail noyifying me about the domain sold.

Please do not bundle Afternic payments together. Keep them separate. Again, for accounting purposes.

Seriouly, afternic service is very worst, at first, they told me i'm not the owner of the domain and the sales was canceled and my account suspended. After much stress chatting with their support, my account was reinstated and the buyer bought the domain 2weeks ago, now i receives this tonight.

"
Hello,
Unfortunately, we've been notified that the buyer's funds could not be verified and we will need to cancel this sale. Please be sure to lock this domain.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thank You,

Aftermarket Transaction Assurance
GoDaddy | Afternic"

It is hightime i delisted my domain from afternic.

@Joe Styler I registered 5 names at network solutions last night. Adding them to afternic now, and they all show as fast transfer eligible. It's really confusing, NS is great for sending the approve email, unlike @namesilo where i never seem to get op in email, when bin price a name.
Is my 24 hour old domain eligible for fast transfer Joe?
Brighter note i sold a .ca for 500usd week ago sunday, via price request from afternic. smooth daddy. I will post in sales thread shortly

It is not eligible for fast transfer. Fast transfer is the same as regular transfer in that it needs to meet the same requirements. If your name is locked from ICANN or the reigstrar for a transfer then it cannot be fast transferred.

I just got an answer back that this problem should have been fixed on Monday. So you should not see any more issues with domains at Network Solutions being sent opt in emails if they are not fast transfer eligible.

Same shit, different pile...

It's still happening...why does your system tell me it is fast transfer eligible when it's not?
Why do you tell us it's fixed when it's not.
Why do you tell us on the 12th it should have been fixed on the 10th, when on the 19th it's still not working?

I registered a domain at network solutions Joe, had a smoke, came in added it to afternic with BIN
Yay! its eligible (4 minutes old)

Wed 2018-12-19, 10:01 PM < You are receiving this email as a result of the afternic DLS listing process being invoked through an afternic account, on multiple domains. A listing for these domains has been attempted at 12/20/2018.

It's actually one domain, minor detail, however, whoever told you it should have been fixed on Monday Dec10, as you stated on Dec 12

was obviously unqualified to make that call, because Dec 19 and the problem has not been rectified.

All you do is tell us it should have been fixed, why tell us that if its not?
40 pages of BS and complaints, email [email protected] blah blah they usually respond blah blah

Jerked haris around for how many months, probably buried arca alive, you should be ashamed of how your operation is being run.
If i told my boss a major issue was fixed and it wasnt fixed 10 days later, my ass would be booted so fast
Why dont you kick some ass and get things fixed? Or hire someone who can.
Tagged you in the network solutions thread, seems unregistered names are being offered up for premium prices via afternic. Sure suck to do that to an unsuspecting end user wouldnt it?

@namesilo :xf.grin:
going through my clunky outdated control panel at afternic, need a 34 inch screen to fit all the columns on one page, I notice i never get opt in emails from you.
Some bin have been set for months, no opt in. Why?
The dreaded and feared also slimy network solutions spits them out pretty quickly like hour and a half, yet maybe months after trying to opt in, nothing from your end

Its very important your customers be able to opt in to afternic fast transfer. You are part of the premium network. https://www.afternic.com/domain-reseller-network
Fast-transfer domains fetch higher prices because of the buyer reach and the buyer can take control of them immediately after purchase.:cautious:
Can you fix that major issue @namesilo ?

@Joe Styler

Really digging the Afternic landing page rework with the more familiar GoDaddy branding. The brand awareness of GoDaddy is orders of magnitude higher than Afternic for an uninitiated consumer - I think it's a strong move in the right direction.

Additionally, it looks like the line-break bug has been fixed, before I even had the chance to report it! Serendipitous.

Can we expect an overhaul of the Afternic interface in the near future, too?

Well this is a test so we haven't announced it yet, but it is the direction we are going. People have been asking for a GoDaddy branded lander and we have seen some positive results testing it on ourselves and are now testing it as a split test on some customer listed names to make sure the sales go up. If as we suspect they do, we will roll it out to everyone. And yes, we did fix the domain name splitting into different lines with this release.
As far as Afternic we do have some other improvements coming in the new year.
We also released local language sales landing pages and have a local sales team in Europe to help field those inquiries and have seen some good results for our customers there as well.

Great improvements. I am split testing the godaddy/afternic landing pages and I have to say the godaddy one should be a winner by a long distance, the godaddy brand name is so trusted by end users that alone should make a difference in terms of trust and conversions. Also the godaddy landing page bolds the phone number and the fields of the form in black which makes both stand out much clearer than the afternic landing page. I think it brings out the call to actions to the buyer much clearer in the new landing page.

From my vantage point the godaddy page is significantly stronger than the older landing page.
I would expect stats to prove that as well, I guess we will see.

Beautiful.

I think it's well and truly a step in the right direction. We'll see whether that's validated by the numbers (though I suspect they will be). Statistics don't lie!

Is it possible to opt-in to the GoDaddy landers, or is it being dealt with exclusively at your discretion at this time?

How are you personally split-testing the GoDaddy v. Afternic branded landers?

GoDaddy did it by using our own portfolio of domains we have for sale. That way we don't impact any customer's revenue until we know if it works or not. We do that regularly. Test our own stuff, see the impact, if it is positive we make it available to test on customers, if it continues to show positive results we roll it out. This way hopefully we are only impacting your sales in positive ways.

You can force them to go to the GoDaddy lander by doing one of the following below:
Option 1: Point your nameservers to ns3.afternic.com and ns4.afternic.com (this will go directly to the sales lander)
Option 2: Park your name with Afternic at ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com
Option 3: List their domain for sale through GoDaddy List for Sale Beta in the domain control center and choose to point to for sale lander via that interface.

Hi Joe,

Concerning option 1:

I'm exclusively using ns3.afternic.com and ns4.afternic.com for my domains pointed to Afternic. However, it's not forcing the GoDaddy branding - e.g. Bigger Blocks // com

I am also using those name servers. Strangely, sometimes they appear with the GoDaddy branding and sometimes not.

By the way, the "Privacy Policy" link on the GoDaddy version uses normal text colour, so some people may think it is not clickable @Joe Styler.
