Just realized that while I've been a member of NamePros for a while, I've never done an intro post saying hello.

So, hello : )

I stumbled into domaining around 2005-2006, and it has entirely consumed my life since that time. I've tried nearly every aspect of this industry (flipping, seomaining, developing, etc), and found my best niche in development. Over the years, I've acquired (from expiration) & developed DudeRanch.com, VidaliaOnions.com, and soon to be Brevard.com and BirthdayParties.com.

I always encourage folks to develop, so you'll probably see me lean that way in conversations. Don't get me wrong, I still purchase domains to flip.

Anyway, howdy. Working on being more active here.

Hello @eightturn .. and welcomish to NamePros! :)

I think the issue with development is that it's beyond the scope of what is efficiently effective for most non-development type people. As hard as it is to imagine, I'd say the majority of the world would even have issues getting a wordpress site up and running .. and then much more of an issue is creating/writing actual consistent content on a continual, ongoing and long-term basis.

I think it's more in consideration for those obstacles that makes most people not recommend development. Although there are other theoretical reasons as well such as the fact that development can shift focus and importance away from the value of the actual underlying domain.

All that said ... if you're one of the few who is able to develop quickly and efficiently, and it makes sense for the specific domain .. then yes .. definitely it can add value. It certainly is wrong for people to blanket claim development is bad .. however I do think it's safe to say that most of the time it's not the best thing to do because of what I've mentioned above.

Anyhow .. best of luck to you going forward .. definitely consider posting a little more often! :)

I agree @Ategy.com .. thanks for the comment.. I just encourage folks to be curious, and try going down the development rabbit hole.. you never know where it might lead you.

lol .. it leads you to hours and hours and hours of tinkering with code/formatting/css .. scrubbing google for that one piece of code you need to find .. and a mindnumbing amount of trial and error and error and error! lol

Hello @eightturn .. and welcomish to NamePros! :)

HeHe.... that has to be some kind of a record.

And funny as hell too a member who joined in 2016 saying welcome to a member who joined in 2007.

Well that's why it wasn't a "welcome" .. lol .. look up .. it was a "welcomish" .. and until he started this thread, I've actually spent 3000 times more time posting here ... and actually .. more like 3,000,000 if we go by character count! lol
