With thousands of startups needing a name for their new company and many more existing businesses also branching out all the time and needing names for their new line of products and services it seems that brandable domains is one of the areas that could be very beneficial to domainers both old and new and deserves to be explored further.

Below are a few points of discussion to get this thread started, if I have left something important out please let me know so that it can be added to them. If you have any tips or advice about brandable domains please feel free to share them with the rest of us.

1-What is a brandable domain.

2-How many different types of brandable domains are there and is one type better than the others.

3-What makes a brandable domain stand out amongst thousands of others.

4-What is the optimum length for a brandable domain, how long can a brandable domain be and still qualify as being a good choice.

5-What types of brandable domains are most desired by startups and existing businesses.

6-What is the best way to find brandable domains.

7-What is the best way to sell brandable domains.

Attention Newbies: It's probably best to first hear what some of the more experienced domainers have to say about this subject before you consider getting any domains, and even then it's probably best to experiment with just a few domains at a time. You should be able to sell one domain and then use the proceeds from that sale to get more domains, if you cannot even sell one domain then you are doing something wrong and need to adjust your strategy. IMO

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
What does it mean? Polish?

Does not really mean anything as long as I know, but it falls to the category of meaningless, but still speakable/pronounceable, therefore brandable names.

Thanks! It indeed does, now that you mentioned it :)

FYI In many non english speaking european countries Prowaz.com is probably going to be pronounced as Provas.com which sounds even better.

Good point. I'm from Finland myself, and we pronounce 'Z' in a different way than 'S', so in Finnish we can pronounce that as it's written :) Let's hope I can sell this to someone for a good price, good luck for your sales too!

Finlandssvensk kanske? Hursomhelst. Kul att träffas. Jag bor i Stockholm.

I have many good friends who are Finnish.

I deleted one of my five letter domains as I rather focus on websites than domain names.

Dupto.com is the one I still own.

I do this as a hobby. So, I only have three.

Turtle.surf
(Currently on sale for $7,343 on sedo, for a store, a game or a company. If it doesn't sell in the next few years, I will start to develop it. I believe it is a good domain to experiment and name a project with)

Dubux.com
(For a store, probably for music. I've been keeping this one for years now and never once offered it. Feel free to contact me if you're interested. I wanted to develop this one as a private project but I at this point I would work with someone. If you want to buy it, then you'd have to offer more than for Turtle.surf)

Shintetsu.com
(This one I would only sell to a final user, not to a reseller because I have a very important email account under this one and "Shintetsu.co.jp" is already being used by a train company in japan. I would probably only sell it to them.)

I'm currently minoring in economics (I'm a physics major) and don't need the money. So, I might just keep them. I'm sorry if the prices seem too high but I don't want to struggle later trying to find a good domain to work with.

there was a intresting discussion with my domainer friends recently...

someone state....for two 5L.com ...if both looks like a brand, quite similar, both have good sound, pattern and very similar in quality.., he have a final judgement to share.

he said, , he will look the letter, he feel if those 5L only contain short letter will be more good look....

the short letter? yes, he explain, it is aceimnorstuvwxz, while the tall letter means bdfghjklpqy....

I never thought in this way...how you guys thought?

regards..

Zilla😊
